Isn't that a huge part of personal preference? What your hand 'likes' is subjective and probably not even conscious, but when a bow 'just fits' it will work a bit better than one you have to consciously set your grip on. 'Hand geometry' is unique.
That's one advantage of 'modern' risers vs. traditional wood, you can just change the grip to whatever you prefer. If you're buying wood, 'try before you buy' is more critical.
