I have set up a blank bale in the garage. I have a standing desk where I write code, build prototypes, and write docs. The blank bale is right behind it so I can grab my bow off the wall and shoot a few arrows whenever I want.

It's a stack of cardboard, compressed between 2x4s with ratchet straps.

Compressed carpet layers works well. A bit heavy though. A small one for indoors would work very well.

Anyone using home-made ethafoam bales?

Matt.... I think you are right.... Having a target right outside your back door so you can just slide open the patio door and fling a few and a range from 3 yards out to 55 marked in your back yard constitutes a problem also.... Oh wait that's my yard. :) Now if I had the property like you or Gary... I'd have a full field range built.

What is on the other side of that wall? I had a similar setup. I put up a full sheet of particle board to stop any wild fliers. I never had one but I felt better about it. I did sometimes get a partial pass through and the board made a certain stop of them. - lbg

Behind the wall is the crawl space under the living room.

Right behind the cardboard are a few layers of the high density foam stress relief floor cushioning stuff. Once in a while I will catch a seam in the cardboard and get a partial pass through.
