I recently decided to conduct an experiment after watching a recent review of a reverse recurve on Great Plains Traditional. The bow has no name per say but you can find it sold as the "Stealth Hunter" on a few sites here in the US. It's also been called the Black Widow clone by several people.
Despite some expected QC issues the bow got a very favorable performance review on Great Plains' video so I decided to see if I could find it. He purchased his from Wolfman Archery but it was also on CHN Archery for a similar price.
I ordered one using a very specific CC in case there were issues with fraud or scams.
There's not a lot of info on CHN Archery which is a red flag for me. Some people here on TradTalk have said they've bought from them but I can't actually confirm it. These Chinese drop ship companies are well known to use bots to generate good reviews. You never know if the person posting is even real these days.
Anyway. I paid $20 extra for expedited UPS shipping. A week later it still had not shipped. First email contact received a reply from "Lisa" that it had shipped. Next day get a shipping confirmation and a tracking number for "17Tracks" which is an international tracking system that is legit but is also known to be used by Chinese companies because it's easy to manipulate and provide fake numbers to. Another week goes by and the "shipped" package didn't move. Another email to CS. No reply this time. Next Day package leaves shipper then bounces around China for a few days before disappearing at a "Customs House". Another email to CS.
"Lisa" replies again that they "will ship the order immediately" but it could take 25 days or more to arrive. She did not answer my questions about why I'd not been supplied a UPS tracking number since I paid for it.
The end: I reached out to my CC and they reversed the charge agreeing with me that everything about this interaction seemed suspicious.
Seems like an interesting take on the Black Hunter lineup. Maybe Wolfman or Hitman Archery is the way to go, but despite some positive reviews on CHN Archery here and on Archery Talk I have my doubts about the legitimacy of that company and it's practices. I wouldn't buy from them. It turned out kind of how I expected. I wouldn't have tried it if I didn't know my CC had my back on it. But I wanted to see for myself.
If you've ordered from CHN Archery please chime in with your experience. There's not a lot of information actual customers about an Archery company that advertised heavily here on this and other archery forums.
