I am thinking of changing up from Magnus Stingers to a 250 grain three blade VPA for better blood trails, opinions?

IMO…Blood trails are not dependent on shot placement, angles, and how many holes you make… not 2 blade or 3 blade…

however I shoot vpa 3 blades on carbons and busted this doe with a big ol snuffer on POC this evening… she ran 60-70 yards and piled up…

Buried into the fletching.. arrow broke, both pieces at shot site… very spotty blood, some places just a tiny drop or two in 10’ or so…

I have not received them yet , but b4 Chuck posted this thread I had ordered a package of three two blade double bevel vpa b heads in 250 grn solid screw ins . Been busy and actually near the tip of the KEEWANAW peninsula as I type this, this morning @ O528 . Ordered them just because I thought price was rite considering how pricey they can be . Don't plan on even messing with them for awhile, just will throw the pack after I check them out in my single string arsenal pirates treasure chest , where I keep my smaller stuff I tinker with. BTW dont know why but this thread brought to mind the Dr Ed Ashby broadheads and arrow reports . Ashby Bowhunting Reports — Ashby Bowhunting Foundation .

One of the most important part of any blood trail is an exit wound. For a fella that id constantly worried his bow is not providing enough energy to be effective i cant think of any reason to move to a 3 blade broadhead where your chances of an exit hole are less and therefore a more difficult blood trail are higher.

How many magnus stinger blood trails have you followed that were difficult?

I had one that the slit was plugged by organs, that’s my curiosity about going to a three blade.

That few FPS difference would be minimal, a 250 grain head should keep me under 550.
I was surprised at the difference in penetration in foam between my 600s at 460 grain to my 500s at 515 grains.
I am shooting 500s with 225 grain up front for a total of 515 grains. My shots are 15 yards and under, 20 being the absolute max that I would really avoid.
With the price of the VPAs I may not go that way and just use my Singers with bleeder blades, but those VPAs look promising except for the possibility of rusting as I understand.

Chuck have you done any homework on the best price you have found on the three pack of 250 screw on VPA including tax/delivery ? On the three VPA 250 solid screw in two blade , twin bevel I paid $56 .

While at an archery shop, the owner said that he would never use a two blade broadhead because if the position of the deer is right(or wrong) the hole will get covered, after impact, and not allow blood to flow out, making for a difficult tracking job. Due to this guy's reputation, I believed him. I use old snuffer broadheads that have been sharpened on a Stay Sharp 344 sharpening system. I like this sharpening system because the 3 blades are sanded down to 44° instead of 60°.

Yeah there a two blade double sided 250 VPA , not even goin to try it this year [season] just ordered these because I felt price was good . There not for me even for dear , they will be for " out west " way way up north or the 49th state . Of course most of us know in travel they rotate way less .
