You can remove the spacer on many models of tabs, and this would allow you to see how you like the tab either with and without the spacer, yet purchase only one tab to do so.
With sub 80# bows I don't need a spacer. For bows that or above I use the spacer, because at those draw weights it is impossible for me to relax my hand enough to keep from pinching the arrow.
Bateman TCDRM is a great tab with or without the spacer. It pulls right out if you decide you like shooting better without one. And, Bateman's spacer is small, not bulky, so you might like it.
You can always buy a cheapie with the spacer, try it out, and then cut it out to try spacer-less. I agree with the comment above that it is personal preference. At least this way you can try both for only a few dollars.
