Other than the more common brass string nocks with the red/black plastic inserts,
what are some good, stay in place alternatives that are inexpensive, light and easy to use?

I've seen painters tape, fly fishing line, rubber nocks etc. but would be interested in your real world alternatives even if just to have one above and one below - - -

I’ll post pics
Yes please - a few pics as a progress tutorial would be nice
Can’t get to my equipment just yet but here’s a vid from coach Ashe. I don’t use the serving jig, you don’t need it. Just wrap by hand.

Steve Wijler method is the other one I like but I don’t use superglue unless it’s gel. Or very little glue. It can seep through and damage strings (overzealous application) but Steve runs his strings for a long time and his career is on the line so it IS possible to use glue safely.

If you use the brass, by all means smooth out the sharp edges. A proper pliers won't put pliers marks on it, but the sharp edge of the ends is still there. I also put a dab of gel Gorilla super glue at the joint. A simple nail knot with a star or cut of of a Bic pen, wound the same direction as your serving, can be adjusted until right, then tighten, trim and add the tiniest of dabs of the gel super glue.
