Protecting carbon foam limb tips in the field

I decided to break my own rule and hunt with limbs I consider precious. In the past I've preferred to take inexpensive bows into the terrain as they very often come back with scratches and dings. For me the ideal has been bamboo core and glass limbs, simple and sturdy, and I can do things like put the limb tip in the dirt or carefully on a boulder and rest my binos on the other end without feeling too nervous.

With these new quick Nika N3 'Progress' carbon foam limbs on a 19" f261 riser I have a new favourite setup, and I intend to hunt with it through the coming months. The limb tips are tiny, supposedly for speed, and I worry about them getting smashed up in the field. They're strong, like the rest of the 55% carbon limb, but there's not much to them. I use camo socks on the limbs, and pull the end taught over over the tip like a sort of hood, so at least there's a little protection there. Obviously not good enough.

My craziest idea has been to dip the limb tips in thick 2-part epoxy mix, to give them a light but hard skin. The most normal has been been buying rubber limb tip protectors, that probably won't be a good fit on these tiny tips.

What do you guys do?

For that small tip you can get a baby nipple for bottles and cut a small section off and slide on or get a small piece of leather and make a sleeve and slide on with a hole for the string to slide thru. This is what we use to use back in the day before commercial ones we’re available like in 3 really vers catalog. One of my favorite methods was to get shrink tubing and cut a small section and heat it up over the tip

Cheers for that CD. I do have a pair of those and did give them a try. They were too long to get on, but cut in half they fit OK. I reckon at 25gn for each half they are a bit heavy, removing benefit of having a nice light tip in the first place, and being quite bulky will catch on sticks and leaf matter. Was worth a try though!

Nice. Those commercial bow tip protectors look great but perhaps no good for teeny limb tips like on my N3's. They're surprisingly small.

What ended up working well for me was some very flexible 5mm ID (I think) tubing I bought from a hydroponics shop. Has served me well. Never got round to posting a pic. Will do later.

...I just use cloth friction tape, or rubber splicing tape (retired electrician)... will not slip off skinny longbow tips... I will use my bow as a walking cane, and this tape works better than any thing... simple and cheap...
...gnome tested, gnome tough...

Edit: don't ever try black electrical tape... you will be sorry...
