Interesting video. He's got a few things mixed up (maybe more than a few) but I'm glad to see he took the time to put this together. Interesting that he doesn't think folks would use that bow for bowhunting because it isn't expensive enough.

And that left-hand thumb stuff for the post-apocalyptic world could have it's own forum. :)

He should join this forum and learn a little about archery.

Happy to address the things i mixed up?

As stated in my video fred bear did not invent the modern bow, he turned Fiberglass bows into a commercially viable product (while running an automotive advertising buisness).
miller is one of the first from the uk that experimented with synthetic Fiberglass bows in the 40s but earlier than that Bakelite was experimented

regarding folks using this bow hunting or not, from my personal experiences talking to trad bowhunters in North America they prefer American brands for bowhunting, not 100$ Amazon bows from China.
I didn't know it was your video. What you wrote above was not what I was referring to. I didn't make notes but I'll go back and watch it again to let you know what I meant.

As far as using that bow or other inexpensive bows for hunting - the Black Hunter from China is roughly $100. The Black Hunter, Sanlida and numerous other recurves and longbows are being used by hunters everywhere. If you do a search on Black Hunter here or on other archery internet forums you'll find many, many people that like those bows and use them for hunting. You'll also find them for sale from American archery dealers like Lancaster Archery, Big Jims and other shops, but they are private labeled for them. If you do a search on YouTube for the Sanlida X8 Royal you'll find reviews from America and Europe from people that use the bow for hunting.

Along with that, many, if not most of the folks on this site use either entire bows or limbs made in China or Korea for their hunting.

But like I said above I'm glad you took the time to create and share the video.

Thanks for your experiences with 100$ bows for hunting

I was expressing my opinion and have not done a statistical analysis on which trad bows are used the most often by trad bowhunters in USA
I understand. Stick around here and you will get a free education. 😀

Plus there are at least two other archery forums for traditional archery. This site is a mix but heavy on the target side. The other two sites are more focused on Bowhunting.

if you don’t mind me asking, where are you located?

is one trad bow hunting?

Both are...sort of. The Leatherwall (Stickbow.com) is the traditional side of the Bowsite. Bowsite is modern archery and the Leatherwall is only for traditional bowhunting topics but that gets stretched sometimes to hunting-related topics.

The other site is TradGang. It started when folks wanted an alternative to the Leatherwall. It is about traditional bowhunting but is much more closely regulated than the Leatherwall.

The Royal X8 is really a pretty bow. From reviews I’ve watched and read it’s not a bad shooter either. The style looks similar to the older Howatts.
