Has anyone ever used or seen used olive wood for any bow related projects? I was watching some wood carving videos on YouTube (anyone else also very interested in hand carving/axe carving also?) and I found a guy making a kuksa from olive wood. Man that is a beautiful wood and I have never seen it used for much of anything, but could absolutely see it in use as a riser, maybe if it’s not strong enough just as an outer portion with a g10 spine? Maybe a special order might be in my future!!!!

In Italy, you can find all kinds of home utensils carved out of it. Because of its high oil it does well getting wet in the kitchen and getting washed. I had Big jim do laminations for one of my Bows, I think the problem is that because it’s so high oil sometimes it bubbles under the varnish it needs to be dried very very well
