Some of you may know that mshockey had this LH Pearson XE Classic compound riser listed in the classifieds for a Warf project. Well… I kept an eye on it and thought, what the heck, It’ll be a project for winter.
So… I tell him I’ll take it. He finds out we're only 40 miles apart and suggests we meet half way to make the trade. We did and I'm thrilled to have met him. I had a buddy with me and come to find out, he worked with Marc’s brother-in-law. Well… as it turned out, we visited a while and Marc gifted me this riser and I really appreciate that, his contribution to archery and this forum in particular.
I get home, take a few measurements and decided
to make this a bolt-down T/D using ILF limbs and attach them like the Dorado and GameMaster II series of bows. I got out some bits, went the drill press and made pilot hole with a tiny bit. Three bits later I had a ¼” hole ½” deep in pocket on each end.
Wow… that was easy. Then I took of the cable guard receiver.
I went to my cans and found a ¼” bolt with a long shank, then broke out the hacksaw. I cut two pieces off that bolt, ½” long; tapped them in the holes and now I have the alignment pins. Next I grabbed a set of ILF limbs, pressed out the ILF bushings and installed my homemade Dorado bushings.
I grabbed a couple homemade collar’s, slipped them on the limb bolts, tapped in a 3/8” plastic hole plug in the top and now I’m ready to try this out.
If you can't find tubing to work for the collars for the 5/16" limb bolts, a 2315 arrow shaft will work just fine.
The riser is 23 ½” long so with medium limbs I’ve got a 66 and 1/2" bow. So… at 13% of that length I need to start with about an 8.7” brace height. I strung the thing up, set the starting brace height, checked the tiller and was thrilled to find it 7 3/8” on each end--GREAT!
I put on an NAP Centerest Flipper and shot a few. I'm liking this new toy
I think she looks nice.
Mind you, I'm planning to use some Bondo in the limb pockets and the cable guard hole on the belly, sand it down and repaint it—sometime. I may update now-and-again—or not, this winter.
