Hey guys ive been kicking around the idea of ground hunting more this coming deer season.. who on here has a good link to a trad friendly killing suit? Ive seen some guys just wear the top of a ghillie suit and modify the bow arm for string clearance. Just seeing what you guys used for those that hunt with a ghillie. Ive had a ghillie suit in the past but it was junk.

I have had luck with the ASAT leafy suit. A couple times deer saw me walking, I froze, they relaxed and returned as they were. Unfortunately not in legal shooting spots.
I bet the leafy is as effective…and easier
I wear a Ameristep leafy poncho. I carry it in my backpack and put it on when a get to my spot. Works great. They don’t make it any more but there are others that are similar.

I’ve seen that suit Bowhunters supply store has some. I’ll look into it! Thanks

Good point
My 3d leaf is from Northern Mountain I believe. I forget how much but it has held up very well for several seasons. It wasn’t terribly expensive for sure. I was always intrigued by the asat pattern. I think there is something there for sure with that unique pattern and lighting look to try one in the future. I look at it this was any edge you can get to buy you a few second’s especially on the ground , I will try. Due to my hatred of face coverings in general, I have been wearing a safari tough guillie/boonie style hat pretty much all the time these days. I had to trim it a little around my anchor point but I really like this hat. It removes the outline on your head and face very well as well as alot of your face, neck etc. Nicely made hat too.

I’ll check that hat out! Also the northern mountain. Thanks

I made a “ trad friendly” version with a Realtree button up shirt and Ghillie boonie. I posted about it on here somewhere.
I also have a FirstLite fusion leafy that I trimmed heavily.
Both work well.
As stated a leafy that you feel confident shooting in ; is easiest to pack / wear in the field( for me this is a vintage USA made Asat leafy or a “underbrush” Realtree hardwoods bug suit leafy.
both no longer made.
I’m debating consolidating to just the ASAT.
Whatever you settle on, practice shooting while wearing it.

Good info!
FWIW, I have both the leafy and the ghillie suit....and I like the leafy better.

Leafy seems like it would be easier to hunt out of cool
My first vote is for the ASAT leafy suit. My second would be this one-Kill Suit Sapper:

I have both, & use them equally. the Sapper comes in different colors.

Maybe I'm just lucky, but when using either one, the only thing I've had to do to ensure no string interference is strap on an arm guard, which I always do anyway. Never had an issue with either of these getting caught in the string.

I’m prob gonna go with asat it’s priced right too! I’ve seen a few votes for that one
I wished they made the Kill Suit Sapper in ASAT... that would combine best of both worlds!

I started ground hunting a couple of years ago and did a lot of research, I ended up getting an extra large ASAT Leafy suit that I can use all seasons and it’s large enough to wear over heavier clothes. For the very early season I where a green leafy suit.
