I've been re-reading James Duffs 1927 edition of Bows and Arrows on The Archers Library website. Duff, in his early years, became manager of the bowyers workshop started and run by English bowyer James Buchanan, who famously built the bows for the great Horace Ford.
I'm fortunate enough to own a Buchanan bow from around 1854, so it brought a smile to my face to see an illustration of a top nock in Duffs book that I recognise and I thought to myself .... "I've got one of those"
