just got through looking at my home in cambodia this early morning, all the rooms, windows, doors, and the outside, thanks to the 15 cameras that monitor it 24/7.
just click an icon and there it is. it's amazing how far that technology has advanced. i can adjust the bit rate, pan a camera, isolate and zoom one camera etc. all from my computer or cell phone thousands of miles away via relays. all i need is an internet connection.

That is pretty cool. When my son was born late last year, my wife and I considered getting a wi-fi capable baby monitor that allowed us to see via the monitor camera from anywhere in the world so long as we had internet access. That idea went bust soon after we learned that it was fairly easy to hack into the monitoring system and allow others to see into our home. We ended up getting a closed system that works just as good, but only within the 50' range. I'm sure the more advanced surveillance systems offer much better protection from hackers. Would be nice if such technology trickled down to the baby monitors. On the other hand, it did keep the grandparents from constantly peeking in on their first grandson!
