Hey I continue to try and make my flemish strings tight but they loop ends where you twist the extra ends from the loop come undone and I can't figure out why is there some sort of guideline I can use to keep them tight, or is there a certain way you twist it when tightening the string and shortening the length?
I continue twisting about an 1" after the tag ends are all braided in...then wax the entire string loop to loop, string off the excess, then burnish with a piece of leather
The whole string is a twist, not just the loop ends. If all you are twisting up is the loop ends and not continuing the twist through the string it will come undone. At least 16-18 minimum twists are required to keep a string together. That and wax, lots of it
After, this is a three bumble 15~18 padded loop. After forming the loop, I continue to twist for 9 inches. Gives a nice tapered appearance, and will never come loose.
Really appreciate the help guys, I will give it another go with all the extra information you gave me.
Thanks, Corey.
