Das DX5

Hey everyone I just ordered a new DX5 and some XL bamboo limbs from 3R today and was curious if anyone has any tips or things I should know. I have owned plenty of ILF but never a longbow version and never a DAS bow. I test drove one at a shoot a couple years ago and it’s been on my list since. Finally pulled the trigger.

... not really.. they are the ultimate in simplicity...
... I have found a felt pad has worked the best for shelf material... after you get your centershot set, use an exacto knife to bevel the sides ...

haha I respect that style because I’m about the same way
I love a dx5, the above pic is basically the same way I ran mine… works excellent, this shoots right down the pipe…

I shoot a springy rest on my bivouac backland (basically the same riser but ILF) and have been very pleased with it.

Have mine a few weeks. Same setup with the xl’s.
Left the stock shelf setup for now. Thinking of going to a nap flipper. First das riser and honestly it has been impressive when it comes down to lack of bow noise. I opted for the standard grip which seems to fit nice in the hand for me. 41# at 27.5”with the das classic xl’s.

Nice! I went with the #45 and I draw a tad over 28. Hopefully they come out around that weight I prefer 45-48lbs

I have not tuned a specific hunting weight arrow yet but mine feels quite snappy with decent speed at my 41#. I think you will be very please performance-wise shooting in the upper 40's. I'm very sorry I did not explore the DAS route earlier on.
I’ll be planning on shooting some aluminums out of mine. Have both 2018 and 2016 on hand to give it a shot
...just my .02¢ worth, but this riser just begs to be shot off the shelf… its the closeness of the arrow to the top of your hand, that gives it that “Longbow” feeling...a more intuitive, point on shoot, feeling… we bought a longbow riser with longbow limbs for a reason...

Ya that’s my plan for now. The only type of elevated rest I’ve ever shot is a bear weather rest. I like off the shelf for reasons mentioned.

I get it but I shoot a fixed crawl and it’s a decent crawl so when I shoot off the shelf I have to adjust the tiller big time. By shooting the elevated rest my fingers are much closer to center and I can shoot an even tiller.

Here I am away at the lake for the holiday weekend and my bow was delivered today. Good thing I have great neighbors who were able to grab the box for me so it didn’t walk away

I tried a NAP flipper and went right back to the stock setup for exactly this reason. Does anyone know where you can pickup a spare strike plate for this riser?
Got home from a weekend away and got to play with the bow a tad. I do have a question. Should the adjustable side plate have a locking set screw? It appears mine does not. Appears there is only the Allen size that turns the plate in and out.
I flung a few arrows in the dark just to check her out and this thing Already exceeds my expectations for how quiet it is. 3R wrote in my book the limbs scaled 46.8 lbs which is about perfect for me. Will be spending some more time with it tomorrow tinkering. Hoping my 2018s should work well with this setup.

yeh there needs to be a small ALLEN set screw to butt up against the strike plate STUD. I get them at the local TRUE VALUE bolts & fasteners drawers.
Picture looks like there is one in there.
ones from 3rivers I've SEEN had the Allen in the HEAD of the thing. Picture shows Allen head in the back side of plunger hole.
Bet there's one in there. unless you put it in riser and you know different.
