I was informed by one of the places we buy wood that due to a growing demand in Asia cocobolo is no on the CITES list and will be severely limited on importation. What is imported will be very expensive. So if coco is you wood of choice be ready for sticker shock.

I heard this a year or so ago by another bowyer saying that ASIA was buying up most of it for furniture...this don't surprise me...

Honestly I think that people are going to have to start accepting a larger amount of synthetic materials in their risers or adjusting their preference for different woods. There are a number of really nice, available and inexpensive tropical hardwoods which would work as well or better than the current favorites. They just won't be quite as pretty unless you like very dark wood and they aren't quite as easy to work.
My personal favorites in that category would be Jatoba and Ipe.
