Clicking during draw

1599 Views 12 Replies 10 Participants Last post by  j.conner
I'm currently playing musical risers/limbs. I'm getting a clicking sound on the draw or let down on my 23" Excel riser. I've swapped out limbs and still get it but not on my 21" Excel nor 19" Morrison. Moved limb bolts around and made sure everything is tight but still get it. I'm confused. Any thoughts.
Thanks!

Forgot to mention, it sounds like it coming specifically from the lower limb pocket. And it happens when I'm stringing the bow also so I know it's not in the grip. And it's not just one click, it's sometime 3 or 4 during draw and let down.
Have you always been getting it, or has it just recently started?
Just started this week when I began switching limbs around. Up until now nothing. Bow still shoots fine it's just annoying.
Try some kind of lubrication on the limb fitting and see if the sound goes away.

I'll bet it's the brass bushing on the limb bolt moving around. The easy fix is to put plumbers tape under it until it won't move. We also sell some threaded bushings that solve the issue.

I have had this before and the source was the limb butt at the limb bolt. Some bow string wax on the limb flats where it contacted the bolt took care of it.

Vaseline on limb bushing butt etc. worked for me too.

I had this happen to me with my Hoyt Tiburon recently. It took me forever to find it. It ended up being the limb bolt flat. I put some mole skin (felt) on top of limb around the u shaped slot and it went away.

Tighten the limb bolts too, including the set screw on the back. I have had this before and it turned out to be loose limb bolts.
