My two oldest boys and I just returned from a really well spent 3 days in Appling Georgia with some really fine folks at a great shoot. Warped Arrow started another thread and I won't repeat what was said there (http://www.tradtalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=14240).

But I thought I'd give you a view through my camera, amateur as the photo efforts were...

We left late on Thursday and had a beautiful drive through the Smoky Mountains.

We made some new friends who (gasp!) shot compounds! I never heard any compound/traditional acrimony at the entire shoot. Not a word. It was just archers having fun!

The boys outshot me on more than one target.

The boys made bows and received some instruction from joad coaches...

There was a particularly wicked temptation known as the sawblade:

$1 for 3 shots. And heaven help the arrow that missed the middle!

Somehow I got hoodwinked into paying a dollar, and being cheap, I sneaked 3 arrows into the middle at about 20 yards...

Hogtamer did the same and so did one other traditional archer and we had a little shoot-off in the morning...

I survived, somehow, but they had a little surprise waiting for me. First, the compound shooters had their shoot-out...

The holes got smaller until they had a champ.

Then the surprise - recurve versus compound for the trophy. One of my boys hollers something about showing them how to shoot a bow and everyone's laughing and I'm just hoping not to embarrass myself or my boys too badly. But I held on and ended with zero misses, which was one less than the compound shooter had!

Then it was time for the real awards!

It looks like you all had a great time.

And Congrats! Great shooting! I always love those rare occasions when a trad shooter out shoots a compound.
