When shooting a 300 round, after the first three or four ends I feel myself tightening up during my shot sequence, which results in some poor shots. After a few ends like this, I feel myself loosening back up. Anyone else experience this?

Been tracking my scoring over the past several rounds including tournaments. Seems my first 2 or 3 ends are my best, then again when you switch the targets to upper/lower at the halfway point my scores are good. Seems my concentration is best for those ends.... need to get my concentraion equal for all ends.

I find that my first half is consistently better than my second half - sometimes by as much as 15 points. I'm not quite sure why I'm dropping it in the second half. I don't think it's fatigue, but maybe.

Also, has anybody else felt like the 300 round targets are harder than the NFAA indoor targets? They seem to fool my eye a bit more with all the colors.

Well, yes, the multicolor targets can be harder to focus for some eyes. For other eyes maybe not. Mental and physical fatigue is often an issue in a lengthy session. The fatigue is subtle. You don't feel sore or tired, but there is a loss of focus and energy.

You can train yourselves to buckle down and crank up. Think 'power up' - 'strong shot' - 'they are tired, I can gain on the field.' Get better. Beat 'em. - lbg

What is a Vegas 450? I see one coming up. I went and shoot a spot for the second time
on my own and shot 222. All the while I was helping a young girl sight in her compound.
I know I can do just a bit better still.

I agree the Vegas face is tgher on the eyes, but it is also tougher since the ten ring is smaller and what would be a 5 on the NFAA Blueface can be a 9 (dropping points). My scores are 10 points on avg lower on the Vegas face.

I have another Vegas question. I have been shooting 6 arrow ends, 2 at each target. 5 ends and I am done. Much faster and more concentrated but is there a down side from a training perspective?

Train like you shoot. I go into tourney mode 2 weeks before a big tourney. I shoot just like I will during that specific tournament. I get ready and I shoot my practice end (1st one), then I set down for 3 minutes and go pull my arrows, do it again (2nd practice end), then I get to the line and tell myself, this end is for score. I shoot my 3 arrows (trying to use up 2 minutes of my alloted 2:30). Then I go sit down, allow 3 mintes (other line called to line and their 2:30), then go score my arrows. I wait 5 minutes from that until I shoot my next end.... and do that throughout my round including the rotating of the targets after the 5t end. That way my practice simulates the actual way I will be shooting in the tourney.
