My good friend from MD is going. His name is Bill and is a very good shot. He's about 70 years old give or take a couple. Look him up.
Will do...is his last name Brophy by any chance?

What class are you shooting Jinkster ?? Let us know how you do.
Haven't decided yet...not sure if I want to attempt the Falco with woodies in the longbow class or take the Bear Polar and VAP's and shoot the trad class.

It's actually a pretty loose shoot from what I'm reading...they even have a class for compounds where sights, stabs and release aids are not permitted.

But it's a pretty big event from what I've been told...state championship....draws vendors...sounds like fun. :)

There is no wheel class, I don't think it matters what class you shoot you will have your hands full. It is a fun shoot but trust me these guys can shoot a bow ! Good Luck. Cal

Well Cal?...I know...I've heard from many the past couple years that this shoot draws some serious talent but my hands won't be full because...

I'm not going with the intention of entertaining any thoughts of winning anything...or even dreaming about shooting any blow out scores...I'm going for the pure joy of attending, meeting like minded folks, learning and of course having fun shooting their courses...for me?..."a win"?...will be coming home with all my arrows, a smile on my face, a bunch of fond memories and a smartphone full of killer pix...that's my trophies. ;)

I have never seen a compound their in close 20 years!!!!!!!!!!!
Well then?...something must have changed as both you guys might want to click on this TBOF "Class Definitions" link and check out the last class at the bottom...

http://www.tbof.org/shoot-highlights-info/shoot-classifications-defined.html

maybe the rules change to dismiss them for the state championship?....

I dunno....this is my first time going...had made plans to go last year but wound up recovering from several black widow bites on my right foot...that was fun...especially with diabetic neuropathy....which not only cost me several days of lost work but also attending both the state ASA and TBOF last year...and no...I'm not joking about the bows...the actual spider...see?....

Apparently one managed to crawl in my work socks...never felt it...lyrica and neuropathy...but I felt it when the lyrica wore off just as I was loading up to go to the state ASA last year...ticked me off big time. :(

Jinks.....That pic is nasty...Just plain ol' nasty......Jim
Yeah...sorry...but maybe it'll save someone else the same and make sure ya'll shake yer sox and boots out cause can you imagine this?...

Took off work lunchtime Friday (last year) to head up to the ASA State Championship Shoot...stopped at the grocers on the way home...filled the cooler up with ice, diet teas and luncheon meats with a bag full of snacks....had my room reservations made...getting ready to leave the house loading up my bow, arrows and clothes and suddenly?...my leg felt like I was standing in a pile of fire ants...sans the ants...yanked my boot and sock off...saw that...took and posted the pic..(so my buds would know why I didn't make it)...and an hour later I was in the ER. :(

3 days later?....that leg was smurf blue from the knee down and I couldn't feel a thing...thought I was going to lose it....and I think the only reason I didn't was because God decided my family and I didn't need that much tribulation.

To me?...that's the pi$$y thing about spiders...as you usually don't even know you have them until you've been bitten...and I actually thank God it got in my sock and not my wife or daughters...cause that leg felt like it was on fire for about a month...and I'd say it took me every bit of a year to get completely healed up and over it and stop walking with a limp.

To put it bluntly?...I'd of rather got stung by a scorpion...at least with them?...it's just like a really bad wasp bite/sting then your feeling nauseous for a couple days and it's over...but them spiders?....and it really sux that thanks to the EPA?...there's no commercially available poisons strong enough to guarantee eradication of either. :(

so keep those sox an boots shook out folks!..especially when camping in Florida....at oh, say...TBOF?

Cal!

Thanks man but....I AM NOT that good....matter fact?...in my book I blow and will be astounded if I manage to run anywhere near mid-pack and come home with all my arrows!

It will largely depend on how I'm feeling any given day...sugar levels...and diabetets sux...some days I feel like King Kong on crack and can seemingly zap'em right in there with little to no effort....other days?...I struggle to miss.

and I hate those days. :(

Compound bows, sights, stabilizers and release aids are not permitted.

I think that's a list of whats not allowed at a TBOF event :)
Rod...as usual?...I think you're absolutely 100% correct and I stand corrected sir...I guess it was a combination of the way I read it and the fact that they emboldened the term "Compound bows" right inline with and the same way they emboldened the classes...my bad...and my most profuse apologies to anyone I may have upset posting such mis-information...and thanks...cause I know I was like...

What The Fudge?...wheelies?...really?...I wonder how that's gonna work out?

man...who said wisdom comes with age?...me?

If I went to TBOF, that would be the furthest I've ever traveled to a shoot. Hmmm, might be well worth the long trip just to see bare ground again. Watch out for the BW bows and spiders, Jinks. :luck:

As per your link!
Yep...Rod pointed that out and I already apologized for that Mr. Dana....you must've missed it.

Man...maybe I just better just stay home and recover from myself. :(

Jinks, they are a good bunch of folks, stopped there one year driving through on my way to Tampa. I had made contact with one of the TBOF officers via the internet prior to going, and he made a point to meet me and escort me around personally.

I was thinking of going this year, but work and other obligations got in the way. And as we are expecting yet another snow storm I think I screwed up :)

Thanks Tony but let me ease your pain cause here was my day....

Fell asleep in my recliner last night....woke up about 2:00am with a crushing sinus headache...groggy and in huge almost migraine level pain...then stumbled my way to bed and laid there suffering (so tired with not enough sense to take some Excedrin) 1/2 in and 1/2 out for the remainder of the evening...next thing I know?...my alarm clock goes off...oh God...maybe 4 hours sleep total...felt like my head was in a vise...struggling to keep my balance for my morning shower...rip the shower curtain off the hooks in the process...dried off...dressed for work...stumbled down the hall to the kitchen...wife takes one look at me with a "what's wrong with you?"...I'm too dizzy, nauseous and disgusted to bother answering...mumbled to her that we need a new shower curtain...grabbed a cup of coffee and my cellphone...headed out to the back porch and called in sick...took two Excedrin and fell asleep...but wait...it gets worse...

woke up...screwed around here on the net...about 3:00pm I decided I felt good enough to get my clothes out of the dryer from last night (why I fell asleep in the recliner)...open the garage door and step into an inch of water....the water heater burst and flooded the garage...which was already a craphole mess...

as you can tell I don't go out there often...for years now....as outside of work?...I used to pretty much live in that garage drunk, stoned and playing guitar and singing for years with my long defunct band of rock friends...it actually scares me to go out there even with 3 1/2 years clean and sober...so this evening?...I had to go buy a brand new water heater I couldn't really afford...but got lucky...found and open box special and the guy at homey depot cut me a 10% break which didn't do much more than snuff out the taxes...but before I went for the water heater?...I called my boss after texting my coworker buds pix so he knew I wasn't BS'ing about needing to take tomorrow off as well...maybe it was just God telling me it's time to get that freaking garage cleaned out.

so it's been a rough 24hrs for me...and now I'm not certain I'll be able to afford to go to TBOF. :(

Feel better about your snowstorm now? ;)
