To begin with , I’ll be 69 years young in a few months . I ride my bike most days , but don’t do any upper body exercising.
I’m at the age where if I do anything out of my regular routine, it hurts . :)
Do you do anything to warm up before a shooting session?
If so , what do you suggest?
After reading the thread [ Backing metal risers for cold
Got me thinking.
My later years of hunting. I didn't feel the cold like my younger years of hunting.
And that was brought on by being a **** hunter. And a friend given me a pair of shocks. That I later adapted to my **** light...
This is how we make breakfast congee
6 Cups of Water (or Chicken/Pork Soup)
2-4 cups of Rice (Long Grain White Rice, soaked over night)
1-2 cups of Minced Pork, marinated and made into meatballs
1-2 Eggs (Duck or Chicken, depends on your preference)
1 Teaspoon of Sea Salt

Is it this hot anywhere else right now? It reached 32 degrees Celsius (90 degrees Fahrenheit) this afternoon here. I didn't even want to go out and shoot my bow after work. Just layed on the couch :(

I've noticed it takes me about 30 minutes to an hour to get into the groove of things, my shots will be all over and about at the halfway mark my groupings get significantly tighter. Is this just because I haven't been shooting for many years maybe I don't have a sequence quite down...
Who warms up before shooting?
Back, hip operations, (not archery related) and not as gung ho as I used to be, I just started to do some brief stretching before shooting.
What exercises/stretching do you do?
May not be of interest to anyone but this is one of my favorite pieces of camping gear, if I'm not backpacking.
Thought while half the country was in a deep freeze it might at least look warm. Just an old washing machine drum with some conduit legs, but best fire ring I ever used, can put a...
I go to a lot of tourneys and hardly see anybody doing any warm up exercises before shooting.
Who does\doesn't and why?
I didn't 15 years ago but do now because I feel it reduces the chances of injury and as I'm getting older I feel the muscle effects of shooting at lot more these days.

This is my first year hunting with a recurve. And since I am now shooting with my fingers, it seems a little hard to keep my hand warm. And what kind of glove do you wear on the hand you hold your bow with? I tried wearing a thick glove on my left hand tonight.( I hold my bow with my left hand )...
Thanks to everyone who took the time out to make me feel welcome. Feel all warm and fuzzy now.
In answer to your questions. I've been lurking here for well over a year now, listening and learning a lot. I've been shooting for about 3 years now- field archery and stumping. I shoot a 50# Martin...
How do you keep your bowhand warm in cold temps? With the metal risered revolution expanding, it's only a matter of time before this question comes up. Post anything, even ideas that haven't been tried or proven. One I have for the BlackBear Warf is to pry off the grip, wrap the area in saran...
