I can understand moving the plunger in and out to hit your mark but spring tension I'm clueless. It seems to me total spring tension your flight would be repeatable. On the other hand if it is to loose it does nothing.Midrange if your release is inconsistent every arrow would fly where ever the...

Hi Folks I’m a barebow shooter, been shooting for about 9 months now, so still a newbie. Trying to get to grips with the back tension and good release. Have watched Jimmy Blackmon videos, Arne Moe videos and have also listened to the Push podcast (particularly like the Rod Jenkins tips)...

Hi All, Quick question here. I'm trying to use proper back tension but I'm finding that when I do (or at least think I do) my hand goes further back and I can no longer reach my anchor point at the corner of my mouth. My hand is in the middle of my cheek. Is this common? Would this most...

Hey all, I've been watching a few videos about Back Tension Releases. I remembered a few threads on one of the other forums where some members talked of using a release on their recurves. Most were home made and back tension type releases. It got me a bit interested. There are times when...

I have not set up a plunger on a bow for quiet some time. I am pretty comfortable setting the plunger for center shot. But I have never adjusted the plunger tension. What arrow issue would cause you increase it or soften the tension.

Can someone with a real dead release be using back tension?Seems to me if you really use bt your hand has to go backwards.Or one would have to stop bt the instant of release. Not likely. What cha think?

I picked up a Bohning serving tool(same as cartel and BCY 26) at my local sporting goods store. I was needing to reserve the center serving on my recurve. I was having a hard time with the tension. I would get it set about right and after 3 or 4 revolutions it would either get to tight or get to...

After seeing the post about shooting right or left, I reviewed why I shoot right. Here's a little something for the newbys out there. When I first started shooting a recurve the guys I shot with kept telling me about back tension and how it felt like squeezing an orange between your shoulder...

How do you determine what is right?.If it is set to tight it would have no effect on the arrow, other then moving your arrow left or right. I am shooting 1535 goldtips with 145 upfront,a light arrow. If to loose, every shot would be different depending on my release. I am using a Hoyt super...

I've been working on form and back tension, specifically trying to keep a straight line from bow hand through string hand through to elbow and really trying to rotate my shoulder and use my back muscles and not my shoulder. But I saw some form pictures of target archers and some of them had the...

I am noticing that I shoot more consistently (less high/low shots) when I try to maintain the curl at the end of the fingers of my draw hand. It also seems to help me pull through the shot, to some extent, or at least it appears to. Anybody else? Or is this in my head?

This topic is kind of a spin off of Matt P's What triggers the release? I kind of go into several things here so I thought it best to start a new topic. I am a subconscious releaser. I don't think about the release, I just aim and when the sight picture is right the release just happens...

Yes, I know this is an article by a compound archer for compound archers but READ IT! Easy enough to extrapolate for us barebow archers, and it's all archery anyway. The author is John Dudley and the article was published in 'Bow International'. Here are the main points I pulled out: Most...

Im a recent convert from compound shooting... and im trying to nail down my form. I feel like i dont have any follow through. After the release my draw hand ends up maybe an inch past my anchor... if that. I know from watching myself in a mirror that my alignment is good... elbow in line with...

I have a question and hope someone can answer. I recently got a Shibuya DX Plunger, but I lost one of the micro-tune spring tensions, is there anywhere I can order a replacement and will it be noticeable if I only use one spring?

I just look at: performance-archery.tv | Episode 22 | Dynamic Posture I have been working not moving my scapula close to the spine and now found it is wrong (for MR Wittingham at least). What do you think? Thanks Martin

I found out today that I was not completing the draw. I made up my mind to make myself do the back tension thing and boy does it work. I tied my record on the NFAA target at 20yds at 228 and I had 5 straight ends with Xs. I've watched RangerB get to a certain point in his draw then move his...
