Every so often I get a bad habit of short drawing my bow a little bit. I hit anchor but am not expanding through my back. I did this last summer and about never got through it in time for hunting season but I did and shot really good all through season. I had a successful season in the woods...

Just returned from Utah where I was able to harvest a cow elk. It was day 6 of our backpack hunt and it was time to secure elk steaks. I was hunting in a small aspen ravine where I had seen elk previously. I had made myself a comfortable hide out while sitting on a downed log. She came quickly...

If you followed my thread on my frozen shoulder you will be aware that I was prepping for an epic day hike/scramble up Villager and Rabbit Peaks, rated one of the hardest in Southern California. The hike was a great success. The stats were 23 miles, 8,300 feet of elevation gain in 15 hours and...

Just returned from a combination Utah elk hunt and Wyoming mule deer hunt. Had success in both states. In Utah I shot a spike bull and in Wyoming a large framed 4x4. The elk was double lunged tight behind the shoulder and the mule deer shot through the center of the heart, saw both animals go...

Killed this nice mule deer buck on Sept. 10th. The Satori riser with Uukha VX1000 limbs performed great. Can't say enough about this setup as a hunting rig. Had a quartering to me shot, normally wouldn't take this shot but it was the last shooting lane I would have an opportunity at him in. Took...

Well, I am back to shooting, starting yesterday. My physical therapists wants me to shoot to see whether I regress. I am still in therapy as there is more work to do, though I have gone from two to one day a week. I continue to workout as normal, just more outside the office. Day 1 was mixed. My...

Some of you might remember the buck I passed up earlier this year. http://tradtalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=55069&page=2 I've lived to regret doing this more often than not, but you can't shoot a really big buck unless you are willing to pass up a few big ones. Besides, I like to hunt so...

The proof is in the results. Thanks to Rusty and the rest of you who offered advice to help me figure this out. I can't wait until the 4 legged hoofed critters seasons open! http://tradtalk.com/forums/showthread.php?p=555680#post555680

I'll start this off. Shot this Tom at 5:30 tonight after sneaking out of work early. I watched him breed a hen (first time I've seen that) so he died "satisfied." Took some sweet talking on my part to bring him into range, he came in with 4 jakes so my HS snood decoys seem to work great...

I managed to extract the ILF bushings with a C-clamp, a socket and a bolt and got a donor GM2/Dorado bushing from an extra pair of limbs I had lying around. A vise would have made the job easy, but the C-clamp wasn't too bad but took a little bit of force to get started. And here it is...

First kill with my new ILF bow on Sunday morning, it sure shoots where it points! Thanks to Bob for the custom 17" wood riser that feels the same as my old Palmer. The limbs are TT Extreme BF shorts 52# @ 26", complete pass thru at 15 yds with GT trads w/100 grn brass insert and 100 grn...

Own a Bear Temujin vintage recurve that came with a movable sight plate, which I removed in favor of a custom-made wooden piece that, originally, fit flush with the rest of the riser. Had trouble getting arrows I like to use with my other bows to tune well (too stiff), so I experimented with...

I shot this doe this morning with my DAS Gen I, W&W limbs, [email protected] My arrows are Axis FMJ 500's with a 125 gr Snuffer SS. The shot was 22 yards. I hit her just a bit back, but still caught both lungs and the liver. Not much time for a long, drawn out story. I have another tag that I can use...
