I've been reading about spine and the general theme is "slightly stiff is better". I look at arrow spine charts and they confirm this, everything looks stiff, I can't even find sp1000/900 arrows anywhere in adult range (25 pound draw weight, 26+ inch draw length = 27+ inch arrows). Examples...

Been awhile since I’ve posted... I’ve been shooting a Black Widow PSA 43# at 28”... I’ve been shooting legacy 2117 with 125gr magnus broadheads... I want to go to the Simmons shark broadheads and I’m wondering what would be the heaviest head I can shoot with these arrows... if I decide to go to...

Looking at both GT and Three Rivers charts the recommended spine is much much stiffer than I use for full length arrows. Am I not seeing something?

A while back somebody posted a tool for calculating arrow spine in relation to arrow length, draw weight, etc,etc You punch in the numbers and it gave you your arrow spine estimate. If anybody has that link, if you could post it Id appreciate it. Im trying to figure how much spine Im losing by...

Bought some GT trad 600 spines 31” with 175 grain tips. My bareshafts at 20 yards are 6-8” right of my arrows. If I start cutting down the arrows to increase spine, how much will it actually stiffen up? Plan on cutting about a 1/4” off the back at a time to try and move them over. Thanks

I don't post often, but I'm here at least once a week seeing what folks have to say. If I have something I think is worth sharing, I'm happy share it. So- a retroactive thank you - and in advance - for ALL of the interesting exchanges over the years... In any case, here's my story: Given my...

Checking out spine charts for recurves and long bows the recommended arrow spines seem on the stiff side to what I find tuning my recurves. I am wondering if others here find the same thing? I end up with one size weaker with more head weight. The arrows I use are full length GT Traditional...

Hi all... So, i'm setting up arrows for a new hybrid longbow/recurve. Its a 45#@28 inches, ... My pull is about 28.5 inches. -it has a fast-flight type string, so I know this does add some kick to it. However, I thought for sure that it would be shooting 400 spine carbons. But, when I do a...

Now is set at 45# takedown recurve with a desired arrow length of 32” I’ve got a 31” draw length and am thinking 32-33” arrows. Hey all -- According to the 3rivers dynamic spine calculator, my bow has a dynamic spine of 63. It's a Black Widow PAV 41# @ 27" (which is my draw). 62" AMO. Every carbon spine chart out there says I should be at .500 carbon spine with 100-125gr points at 28" of length. But when I plug that...

I don't know how other arrow shaft brands do it, but I noticed on my Easton Carbon One and Easton Axis Traditional arrow shafts some mismatch in arrow spine on every sets (600 for example). I don't have a spine tester, but I base this on bareshaft test results. When I adjust to finetune my bow...

I shoot a 42lb (at my draw length of 31") Turkish bow - with a thumb ring, not fingers. I make my own arrows and I'm about to get some decent bamboo shafts. The informed sources about Asiatic archery and bamboo arrows say that (because of bamboo's different resonant frequency/ different nodal...

Had my Gold Tip 400's flying true bare shaft but nock high. Decided to order Black Eagle Vintage 400 test arrow before committing to a dozen of them. I cut the test shaft to the same length as my Gold Tip (28 3/4") measured from throat of nock; put the same 250 grain tip up front, and wouldn't...
