It is widely believed that arrows built with a lot of weight up front will produce better penetration on tough game. I am not just speaking of heavier arrows, which I am sure will penetrate better than light ones, but arrows with a high percentage of weight concentrated at the point (EFOC)...

So I had my friend Cody sharpen up some Zwickeys he graciously purchased and sent my way. These are the glue on models, and what real trad men shoot on wood arrows. These arrived in a manly package secure, so no postmen or women would be harmed by simply looking at, or handling the package. I'll...

I was bored today so I did what an average teen would do. I grabbed my Titan 3 with medium 45# trad tech wood/glass limbs and I shot some shoulder blades off my buck. Heres the results off of 3 shots all at 17 yards. First shot was dead center. As you can see, it made it to the golden band in...

So?...to recap?...where in the latest testing I observed my heavier 520gr arrows spined .350 with 200gr points were flying a touch stiff but had identified why...my BH had dropped from 7"s even (where they tuned and flew well) too 6 3/4" and just before looping on my Borders Stringer tonight to...

So this is my first year hunting with a recurve and I was fortunate to take a doe on each of my first two sits (doe only first two weeks in my area of NY). The two bows used were a Dalaa 50/28 and a vintage Bear Kodiak magnum 50/28. I draw about 29" so lets say 52lbs each. Both kill shots...

For those new bow hunters who may be questioning if their 35-40# bow is enough draw weight for hunting deer....I'm going with "Yes"...most definitely...

Ok I had a discussion on LW somebody saying Stringwalking is not suitable for Bowhunting as it's not as good at penetrating Deer and he had more pass throughs than his buddy, so to see for myself I tried this afternoon, did some bareshaft tuning with 50g inserts and 145 field points, 2 blade...

Well folks?...I finished fletching up my dirty dozen of 11/32ndths Doug Fir Woodies the other evening... And?...well?...I simply couldn't resist...thinking....as long as I was testing broadhead penetration?...I had one bow of mine left I hadn't tested...the very bow these 11/32ndths Douglas...

What is the theory, the science, behind the idea that 3 blade broadheads might penetrate better than 2-blade? go one step farther, will 4-blade penetrate better than 3 blade? Is there a point where a top skinny sharp 2 blade will penetrate as well as a top 3-blade, or do all 3-blades penetrate...

I wanted to see for myself cause I fully intend to hit the woods next year with my 37# Bear Super Kodiak and all this talk of Girly bows rekindled my curiosity of just how formidable (or not) are these lightweights?...and with that thought in mind?...I grabbed my lightest, least efficient...

I have a question regarding arrow penetration at longer ranges 25 yards + . I switched to three fingers under release and this has greatly improved my accuracy.... for me. So, I tried to see how far out I could hit the kill zone 10" pie plate. I was able to hit it consistently out to 122...

Setup a new makenzie shot blocker the other day and began shooting some carbons. Being a new target with no worn areas I notice something interesting. The footed carbons penetrated a little deeper than the non-footed. The footed bareshaft penetrated the deepest. These are ICS bemans, all have...

this little ditty proves nothing, was not very extensive, and may or may ot have anything to do with hunting. i was suprised by two things. 1) exactly how well a 30# penetrated at 15yds and under 2) that subsequently 3 blade woodsmans out penetrated the 100gr two blade stingers...
