Hello all, I have been shooting instinctively for nearly 3 years. I will admit that I have done well for myself in the field and in 3D competitions, but I have also become more and more frustrated by the inconsistency that comes from purely instinctive shooting. I just started fooling around...

The bowyer Edward (Ted) McEwen was from the UK, and was formerly the editor of the Society of Archer Antiquaries Journal for many years and one of the foremost archery scholars of his generation. Edward was also world-renowned as a composite bow maker, turkish bows being his specialty. He also...

Since this bow is made in Belgium, I want to talk briefly about the history of the longbow in Belgium, during the hundred years war. Of course, Belgium was not a country at this time, but divided among various factions and the territory did change depending on the time period, divided with the...

I'll keep it short, as your thoughts are most important. I have a new longbow and I'm trying to get my arrow flight so it looks good. The bow is a 60" Great Plains longbow with a low wrist grip, 40# draw weight at my draw length, and simple calf hair rest. My arrows are PORPOISING like crazy...

As the title says, this is the Heritage-66 longbow made by the legendary traditional bow company partnership of Martin Archery and Damon Howatt, 50lbs @ 28", Right handed bow. If you saw my other post about my JT Traditional Archery Custom Longbow, since I have that now I always choose it...

I am looking for the specifics on this, but in the meantime I will list what I best remember.... I believe that most of the wood is Spalted Maple and the grip is the one South makes that...

The Manchus, a nomadic culture East of Mongolia, were the last culture to use bows and arrows as a military weapon en masse. They were still used in the 19th century. Getting shot by a historical manchu arrow has more stopping power than most bullets at the time, since the arrows were much...

So I received my pair of Longbows from Kirk at Bigfoot. I was a little nervous about these to be honest, I'd never shot a longbow, only recurves, and I was anxious about how the performance of the bow would match up to the Toelke Chinook [email protected]" or the Covert Hunter [email protected] These bows are at...

    1. Has anyone done this? Is it worth considering, or just get a Dryad 15" riser? a) ILF might effectively "relax" the limb pad angle; is this OK? 2. Mock ILF. Alternatively, I'm thinking of routing slots in the limb butts: from the bolt hole to the end of the limb butt. Then limbs...

Hello all. Loving my DAS 17" with standard DAS longbow limbs. Very forgiving bow. Have a Mountain Muffler string on it. Shoots awesome. Just curious if any that have hunted with this set up and have put anything on limbs or inside the ILF pocket to quiet their rigs or any other suggestions...

I have the itch for a Hill style longbow. I’ve owned them before so I know they are slow and some have hand shock. I’m looking at a HH tembo. I can’t decide what grip to go with between the trad straight grip, dished or locator. Locator might fit me better since I shoot low wrist recurves.

My son has grown a lot lately, and now his draw length has grown to the point that his 25lb recurve is hard to pull to anchor. He needs something lighter, and he really would like to have a one piece wooden longbow. Are there any sources for a light draw weight longbow? It seems like 30lbs...

I have one that has killed multiple animals with but would love to find another. 62-66” 40-50#. These were made by Ernie McKenzie in Montana years ago. I know Kirk Lavender remade this model with Ernie’s permission for a bit and I own one of those. I am still looking for a DAS Elite RH in...

Its been sitting in my closet for almost a year. I wanted that bow so bad because I love the look but the prospect of shooting it is something else. A gorgeous all wood "flat bow" made from lemon wood purple heart and something else [ I forget ]. I fooled around with it a while ago, not what id...
