Picked up my first FITA target and decided to try comparing NFAA score vs the FITA scores on my first 2 tries since the ring sizes (other than being split) are identical I think. As a disclaimer, I shot the first 30 arrows at 22yds (accidentally) and moved the target to 20 yds for the next 30...

I've noticed I score the lowest on the FITA target. My groups are also pretty spread apart on it compared to other targets. On the NFAA target I can focus on the "X" and I shoot much better with tighter groups. Basically any target that has a small dot of a different color I do really well on. I...

In preparation for Lancaster, and knowing I can't make it to the club as much as I'd like to in the next 3 weeks, I need to focus and use my 16 yard basement range to the maximum benefit I can muster out of it. I printed off the FITA faces at the correct ratio for 16 yards to give myself as...

I remember asking this question quite a while ago either here or on AT, but I cannot find that thread and cannot remember the answer. I read somewhere that FITA field barebow rules prohibit you from raising and extending your bow toward the target prior to nocking an arrow and shooting...

If you shoot FITA / WA Barebow, are you allowed to have a "3rd" nock which acts as a fixed crawl? I'm going to assume not... I note the rules mentioned 1 or 2 nocking points. So I assume I'd have to count stitches each time, even if the distance is fixed.

For those of you that have requested copies of my FITA field distance card, we are working through a potential issue with the distances from the Cadet stakes. I have emailed the judge that I got my information from. I was never able to find an authoritative source for the cadet stake distances...

It is interesting when you go back to your roots. My roots in archery is FITA. Even though I shot barebow, I shot in FITA tournaments, practiced and trained with FITA archers and coaches, and shot at FITA ranges. I had left that environment a few years ago to pursue field archery with a small...

Something wonderful happened to me at the FITA field in Mesa Arizona. I discovered CRT: Controlled Ripening Technology. After suffering through over ripe bananas the first morning at my hotel, they rolled out this stack of individually wrapped, perfectly ripe, flawless bananas. The bananas were...

Anyone going to either of these, and has anyone heard if its possible to shoot both, since they are running on the same days? I emailed a few weeks ago, and have not heard back from the NFAA on whether its possible to shoot both events. Shame they were not running end to end so you could...

I shot my very first FITA Field this weekend, and fell in love with the format. I am hooked. I cant wait until the next one I can get to shoot. The unmarked wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Knowing the target sizes their ranges really helped to "guess" what the distances were. I shot...

So what is the definition of "aiming" with FITA barebow? I use the tip of my arrow to aim with. I use a fixed anchor for all distances (no string walking or face walking). And my pseudo aiming system is called Pick-A-Point (or gapping at the target). Where I pick a point above, below, or on...

I would like to set my SF Forged+ riser up for FITA barebow. I know the unstrung bow must fit through a 12.2cm ring. I also know that stabilizers and v-bars, etc are not allowed. I would like to put an X-Spot brand counter weight into the stabilzer bushing below the grip. It's my understanding...

The difference between a FITA shoot and a traditional rendezvous. Now that I am into my second year after transitioning from FITA to traditional, I thought I would point out some of the differences: FITA: Getting there early so you can set up your popup behind where your...

In case if anyone hasn't noticed yet: The USAA National FITA Field championships and the NFAA National Target Championships are scheduled on the same weekend of September 26th at Yankton SD. I emailed the NFAA about this, especially since both of these are on my bucket list for this year...

After reading Ben's post on the West Coast Fita Field shoot, I quickly got the itch to get out and start shooting some Marked Rounds for practice. This past Sunday worked out perfectly for my first attempt of the year since there were no local 3d shoots going on, and the weather was also...

I have been working on form with light bows. I decided that I would shoot my light bows in competition as I go through the process of bridging to my regular competition weight. I want to ensure that I am continuing to learn during the April tournament month and not back sliding. I was shooting...
