In looking at several pictures of top target archers shooting, many have a bow arm that has what appears to me to be a hyperextended elbow. I don't have that myself, but I assume this locks the arm. Does that offer the advantage of eliminating a creeping or collapsing bow arm?

I have hardly shot since the end of Nov. Just because I like to shoot outside mostly and its been cold. When I fooled around a bit back in early Jan I felt twinges in my arm(inside the elbow particularly when pressure is on the thumb) and decided not to shoot then. I tried it again to day and...

I've been fighting tennis elbow in the bow arm for awhile. I've laid off shooting altogether for spells, and shot a 30# bow for a break, and worn the arm band but it still comes and goes. I've read others on the forum talking about it as well. Has anyone found something that really works to get...

Hi, Had to take a break from shooting due to an injury. I'm back now, but have lost a bit of upper body strength as a result from being limited in activity. The main issue is now my bow arm is rotating a bit under the force of the draw so that the meat of my forearm is getting closer to the...

I've never had elbow problems- pitching batting practice, shooting compounds- nothing every affected it. I think the way I'm shooting my recurve is affecting it and though i plan on seeing my Doc is if persists, i'm thinking there are enough guys with experience here to illuminate me. I'm...

I started shooting a Titan 2 several months ago. I added a very low grip to the riser. Im only pulling 43# which is less than all of my other bows. Here is the problem, I have developed severe elbow pain, to the point of if I shoot the bow I am unable to sleep that night due to the pain. I have...

Doing some self diagnosis, trying to figure out why so much pain in my forearms and hands, I found the exact symptoms online. It is called tennis elbow. While reading, it mentioned sometimes being called "archers elbow". My problem comes from working with my hands so much. Both are equally...

Well 29 years of factory work have not done any favors to my elbows. Still love to shot my bow and I have to remember my limitations. One thing I do whether they hurt or not is a icing routine after shooting a 100 arrow day. Some days its 50 arrows and they start to bother me so its the same...

Hi all Just how important is it to have your your drawing arm elbow aligned with the arrow? does anyone have non proper alignment yet hold their own? Ultimately, do you think it be something to have no matter what? If so then i need a complete form rebuild, new arrows (length n spine...

I haven't shot my bows in a few weeks and started up again. I started by shooting my Anneewakee Addiction 54" 40#@28 recurve for a few hours. My bow elbow was real sore. I shot my Bowtech Assassin compound 60# for two more hours yesterday and feel like my elbow is getting hyperextended from...

I occasionally have a high elbow, and noticed I am probably pulling more on the bowstring with my index finger. When I put more tension on the middle finger when drawing, my elbow seems to be more in line with the arrow, (not high) I shoot mostly three under, split now and then. Does any...

I've been working on various aspects of my shooting, looking for inconsistencies. I'm still stringing shots vertically. It has been suggested that my finger pressure on the string is inconsistent, which may lead to this. Okay, so is my elbow position at full draw important to keeping my finger...

G/Day folks I've been blessed with Tennis Elbow in my bow arm since last November and have hardly shot an arrow since. It had improved a little so over the Easter weekend I attended a Traditional Shoot and shot my 42# Brigalow Selfbow, bad choice as it has some handshock but I dearly love...

I am battling a very small elbow creep forward immediately before release. That is accompanied with snapping the string (my hand swings out from my face on its way rearward.) Every now and then I can eliminate both with an excruciating amount of focus on back tension. However, that is still...

Hi, Had a guy at the range tell me that my elbow was moving both back and down after the shot. He thought it was a shooting defect. My hand goes back at the release to about the ear. I suppose the way my back tension is it cause down movement as well. Anything to worry about? -r

Hi, Been getting a lot of forearm slap. First, I think I need to hold the bow more like according to the b.e.s.t. system which puts the bow more into the base of the thumb than I am used to. Also, I need to rotate my elbow out. The best system implies some rotation of the hand. There are...

There has been much discussion on the "power triangle" and proper draw arm elbow and shoulder alignment. In a recent thread about fingerslings, Viper also made the point about holding the bow arm steady and how a movement to the left (right handed archer) can be caused by improper alignment at...
