Hi all... So, i'm setting up arrows for a new hybrid longbow/recurve. Its a 45#@28 inches, ... My pull is about 28.5 inches. -it has a fast-flight type string, so I know this does add some kick to it. However, I thought for sure that it would be shooting 400 spine carbons. But, when I do a...

There are two opposing theories about arrow hunting weight. Mine, that a bow has the same amount of stored energy, no matter what arrow you are shooting, so weight should make little difference. And what most hunters seem to think, and a few articles back up, that the heavier the arrow, the...

I have dabbled in trad archery for some time, but have decided to move my focus from compounds to trad bows. I'm hoping to pick up a new bow at denton hill this year. Hoping to find something in a hybrid longbow (Maybe Big Jim or Dwyer) at 58-62" and 45# at my 26-26.5" draw length. I'd like to...

So I'm in the market for a takedown recurve that is 60" and 45#. There are a number of cheap ones on ebay and amazon. I am curious if anyone has any experience with these bows and what would one recommend? Greatree, Fleetwood archery spartan, New bear archery sonoma, SAN courage, and one that...

I'm looking into a couple different recurves to start back into shooting regularly and hunting deer and ferrel swine. I just shot my buddies 56# bow today and know that would be too much for me. He is recommending that I start with a 50# which I feel is good. However there are some really nice...

The arrows are made of cedar and spined 45-50#, and are they ever sweet looking, and with the Zwickey Eskimo 125 gr glue on broadhead they weigh in right at 495 gr total. We thought with the 45# Selfbow, that I might use a 145 gr or 150 gr but I will see how these fly with the 125 gr BH's on...

I have a BB Warf at about 55# 's now. I would like to have the option of 45# ILF limbs. What poundage would I need for this? I am open to suggestions on "Best Buy" limbs as well. I am looking for carbon/wood ILF limbs that will not break the bank. Thanks, Rick

Hey all, I am thinking of getting a Hoyt Excel 21 inch riser for hunting and fun shooting. I would be using 38# SHORT limbs which would put the draw at somewhere around 46 pounds or so. I would like to hear from others that have used this riser with limbs in the 45 pound and up range. How...

Bow's not here yet, but need to decide on an arrow to start. Expected Setup: 64" Stallion 45# @ 28" DL is 28" Bear weatherest (planned) Primary use: Targets Arrows: Aluminums Easton says 1916 (heavier, 0.623), but shop says 2013's (lighter, 0.610). Would the 1916 be a better fit for the...

Doing some bare shafting......I'm shooting both a Great Plains B-Model, one-piece and a Dalaa. Both are 45# and seem to like the same arrow. The specs are: 29.5" CE Heritage 150 with a 125 g field point. I draw a little over 28". Does this arrow/bow combination sound right to you? I...

I have been very satisfied with my Quinn Stallion @ 45#. I am accurate up to 20 yds. However, after 20 yds that I notice arrow drop begins to really increase and my accuracy goes downhill. I am thinking of ordering a set of 55# limbs which would give me additional arrow speed (I hope). And...

[FONT=Arial][SIZE=5] Fellow archers, I'm new to Trad talk. I've been shooting a 45# Mahaska longbow with Easton 2016's using 100-125 gr. field tips. Next week I'll be getting a 45# Falcon Special recurve. Can I shoot the same arrows or should I get something else? Don't want to go to wood...
