I have a couple of warfers and a metal risered longbow that I plan to hunt with this year.A DAS Kinetic will be here before the season starts so things could change. :)
All will be between 45 and 48lbs at my draw of 28" and all will be shooting SST 230s with Stingers, Stos andWoodsman broadheads on the front.I just hunt deer, hogs and squirrels.

I have so many bows I am never sure what is what. However, my three primary set ups are #1: a 56" Groves Mag III @ 66#. The bow has a custom built phenolic handle that is heavy and very stable. I currently use Axis shaft, 300's, with a modified Snuffer (or what my buddy and I call Wensel Woodsman's on steroids) which are 145 gr. Snuffers whittled down to 125 grains with a 100 grain adapter. I have killed 3 caribou, one black bear and a number of whitetails with this. #2: An old (25 years old) Groves that is a 60" "warf" which Groves built on a customized Proline handle. It is 66#, as well, and I shoot the same arrows out of it as the Mag III. In 1990 I killed the biggest PY buck ever shot in NH with that bow and a 2216 shaft tipped with a Bohning Blazer. #3. A wood handle 60" Groves Mag III that is 61#. I shoot Axis 340's out of it with 200 grain Razorcaps. I use this bow in the latter part of the season when it is cold and hard to shoot the 66# ers.
Soon I will have a 60# DAS and a 60# warf with Border limbs. Just what I need...more bows. Bring this thread back up in a month and we'll see what's what. :sbrug:

For the last couple of years I've been hunting with a couple of Super Shrew longbows, #52 and #55 at 29" or, If I feel like a recurve, I have a couple or three Palmers, #48, #53 and #56 at 29". I shoot GT carbons or Easton legacys with Magnus II broadheads. I have been thinking of giving the Easton Axis or the Beeman Black Max shafts a try this year.
I almost forgot one of my favorite longbows, The Dwyer Defiant, It's the sweetest Osage and Bamboo longbow that I've ever handled!

well.......life was good and simple bow wise untill i started really reading these forum threads......always shot 4 fletch bananas......worked like a plan out to 25 yrds and then they dove like duck hawk on drugs......duh me.....kept playing around with lighter shafts and frontends.......didn't like that......someone here pointed out the flu-flu reaction from the four bananas on the rear.........tried 3 fletch cock feather in bananas and what took me so long..???????? they fly awesome......cock feather in gives me no self strike and they don't die at 25 yrds...........beman 400s/29 in with brass 50 gr insert/simmons 160 interceptors/100 gr steel adaptors up front.......foc forward and heavy front end ......... arrow comming in around 615 total grns. the simmons interceptors have been absolutely awesome for me........however i'm now doing some heavy crop damage control (legal permits antlerless) with the el grande grizzly 150's.........i want total blow through double lung....... down and out results.......awesome results sofar.......the simmons interceptors do open up a much bigger wound......but really doesnt matter with the double lung hit.............all of this out of a chastain td 58 in recurve
53 at 26 1/2/boo lams..........i'm now drawing a full 28 in so that would make the draw around 56 lb...........i know that there is a big following here for lighter shafts but i'm very comfortable with these shafts out to 30yrds and i've never liked the penetration with lighter shafts if one is not totally on with the basket ball size thorex target area............for 3d and darts........i use a chastain td 58 in recurve/boo lams/47lb at 28 in/beman 500's with again 50gr brass inserts.........chastain recurves are really smooth shooting tools with a great working limb..........elkdreamer

64" Massie Longhorn, 55# @ 28". It has a dymondwood riser and plyboo limbs with quarter-cut shedua veneers. Have been shooting the Arrow Dynamics Traditionals for quite a while but have recently drifted back to cedars. Haha, I think my arrow tastes change seasonally. Will tip my cedars with a 125 grain Eclipse for hunting season.
I had high hopes of adding another Longhorn to my quiver but much to my chagrin, Jeff decided to quit selling bows.

I'm pretty excited about this year since nearly everything about my set-up has been revised. This is the first major overhaul in 20 years! I've gone from shooting glove split finger to a homemade tab and 3 under.
I'll be shooting a DAS Kinetics Hunter (big surprise eh?:) ) 58" AMO length, 48#@26", with 27" Easton Epics, 4", 3 feather fletch with a few 4" vanes for good luck. I've dropped down 5 lbs in draw weight this year, but my shooting has improved so much that I am well ahead of the game! My arrows are still flying faster, what the heck? I'm still on the fence about broadheads, but I've narrowed it down to 4 blade Stingers or 3 blade Razorcaps. Bill Carlsen is sending me some custom ground woodsmans, so who know's, I may end up shooting those:highfive:. I've also gotten ahold of some Burt Coyote Luminocks, and man are they cool!! In dim light there is absolutely no doubt about shot placement. They are a bit heavier than regular nocks, but I guess my set-up is pretty forgiving because I can't tell a bit of difference in arrow flight. BTW, They are listed in the Lancaster catalog under "Burnt Coyote":mistake:
I'm also in the process of putting together a dedicated small game bow. I love hunting small game and I decided it was time to give it it's due. No more bent, broken, and mismatched arrows; or screwed up broadheads. My new rig will be 38#, estimated arrow weight of 250gr with little fletch and 2 blade broadheads ground way down. What I'm trying for is a super fast little bow that can be snapped to full draw instantly, with plenty of momentum to smash the shoulder blade and penetrate deep into the thorax of even the toughest cottontail!

The cornerstone of my hunting rig is now my DAS kinetics bow shooting off the shelf with a neet tab. 50# @ 29" with Davids camo on Hoyt Carbon plus limbs. Shooting easton ACC 3-28 fletched with four 3 1/2" rw feathers. Broadhead is 100 gr thunderhead. Not that it really matters but the arrows speed is right at 200fps. Everthing is in place for a successful season. :shooting: John

Untill my new PAW bow comes in,my setup is a Dan Quillan Patriot T/D 60" 58# at 28",I draw 29".My arrows are Carbon Express 50/60 w/WW 150gr screw in.
Very deadly setup.

mine is pretty simple. i have a chek mate falcon new and i am going to be shooting either 2013 xx75 hunters or 2016 legacy arrows. the 2013's will have either 5" shield or 5" banana cuts in lw. it is a 29" draw and 50lb draw weight. i may also shoot easton axis 400's with 4" or 5" banana cuts or shield cuts not sure on them and if i like the patriot arrows i am trying out i may go with them. i got two of the pros to try in 55/70 and as soon as i get some more glue in hopefully in the next couple of days i will have them fletched up and shooting them. they look to be very consistent looking wraps and are solid feeling. they might make an excellent huntign and 3d arrow. if i am shooting woodies i will be using the magnus snuffers in 125 grains or if i am shooting my aluminums or carbons it will be 4 blade 125 grain stigners. magnus are the best in my opinion for all around hunting with traditional hunting

Proline warf with 49 pound at my draw of 30 inches
Dyna flite 97 string
PSE 200's for now but looking at the carbon tech whitetails
McKinney pin nocks
three fletch helical feathers started them as 5 inch parabolics and cut them at 4 inches trust me the look grows on you higher fletch than the standard 4 inch
ARE rest w/torque adj or Hoyt super rest I'm working both out now. probably go with the Hoyt as it is very quiet.
Magnus 2 blade with BHA adapter 145 grains total considering the Zwickey little delta but it really is a coin toss as I've had great experiences with both Zwickey and Magnus
W&W 360 tab
All that and my daughter who at 14 this hunting season is back at it again for a third year. no bucks the first year she was the only one to see bucks last year
So really my hunting season for the next four or five years is committed to making sure she has a quality experience. Doubt I'll draw the string but I'm telling you I wouldn't trade it for anything.

Nice set up! I'm pretty close to the same if I don't use my heavy limbs (which I don't use most of the time). I'd say nay on the whitetails, actually kind of like the higher grade target PSE's better.
Right now I'm messing with Easton Lightspeeds and shifting the FOC forward for added penetration and more forgiving arrow flight, trajectory shouldn't be a consideration under 45 yards. So, Lightspeed 400's (maybe 340's we'll see) 50 grain brass inserts and 125 grain broadheads...still pretty light...
