I just recieved my Warf/Hoy-Buck from Tarjack it is their burlwood patten in a matte no-glare finish. snapped two pics and have posted them here. Now I gotta snap the limbs on string it and shoot. I know the new look won't make it shoot different, but . . . . any excuse to fling arrows rather than mow lawn

Man that looks cool! Now lets see how it holds up. Send it to me and I will put it in the back of my truck for a few weeks. Limbs are optional! :shooting: John

Both those risers are beautiful. Great Look! What do they charge for that process?

James I LIKE the way yours looks. Which pattern is that? It has more of a nice low lustre finish than mine, Mine is absolutely flat. I don't know if they didn't clear coat it or what. Maybe that was a pay-extra option I didn't catch.
I have another warf from Bob to pick up in the morning, I sent him the riser I took off that that low-buck PSE Sentry (same as the Kingfisher bowfishing special minus the camo). He said the finish on that was really tough, wrenching, clamping, etc didn't mar it and adding the molten lead didn't make it bubble like the finish does on some bows hes worked on.But its a nondescript silvery bluish grey--kind of nothing looking and I think another of the TarJac job may be in order.
Somebody asked about cost. You'll have to call them to be sure but it was roughly 60$ Can't remember if that included the shipping or not.

James, don't be mean :mistake: LOL!!!! that was a good gotcha! nice looking riser though. I think when I send the Sentry in I'll try that Turkish walnut pattern

I think that turkish walnut looks good.It should look good on a hunting bow as well.
With all my bow playing funds now deverted to the DAS bow I will have to make do with what I have laying around but the warfing must go on. :sbrug: Unfortunatly I have wood instead of metal. :)

Sometimes I wish I had never discovered this site. Nice stuff guys, now I got even more to think about. Scoot, you should have got the Walnut and then told everyone what a b!!!! it was carving that damn riser out.

Lookin' good, guys.
No issues with the warfed limb pockets, I assume?
Also... the limb bolts on my warfed Jennings Black Lightning. Do they come all the way out of the brass sleeve? They seem to stop after turning out to a certain distance. More elbow grease? Really cranking on them to move further out of the brass sleeve.
Donk, I'm going to have mine done in black w/white veined MARBLE.
Appropriate I guess, for the weight of the Warfer.

DWS,
If you want a shinier finish you might contact Dawn and see what types of clear coats are compatible with that film and clear. For me the old finish on my riser was way to shiny so i wanted the ultra flat finish I got.
Dipping one of the old Hoyt "Rambo" risers with the cast grip and a set of FITA limbs in wood grain would make an interesting bow. I don't think anyone would be able to tell at a glance that it was one of those metal abominations LOL.
Pinelander,
They should come out. I wonder if a couple threads got dinged by the set screws. My riser is one of those "other bows" and I believe DWS is an old buck riser so I'm not sure if he's got the bondo JB weld thing going. After talking to Dawn at length about the process I'm not sure about a warfer. One of the first steps for risers is a chemical dip. Now I suppose they might be able to do some special handling similar to what they do with plastic gun stocks and compound limbs to avoid the dip.

My tarjacked riser was a Hoyt Buck that the evil Warf Emperor cast a bondospell on. The bondo came thorugh the process absolutely just fine.
Emailed back and forth with Dawn this am. The matte finish is the way it's supposed to look. Jim screwed with my head with the picture of that riser he posted---I thought that maybe I'd screwed up and not gotten the clear coat.
Wrong-o, it has a clear coat--neccessary for protection--just it is a matte one. I didn't ask about a shinier one. Boy do I like the way it shoots--took the Hoyt carbon-woods off the Mizar and put'em on, 3" less riser and a bit more HP under the hood now. Now I can get rid of the Mizar
I also got the PSE Sentry Bob did in the mail this am. Its got a great feel, it's a little slimmer through the grip than the Rambo but otherwise a dead ringer copy. Its the same riser as their camoed bowfishing rig, the Kingfisher, great little riser for a relatively low price. NOt sure how I'll use it yet.

DWS,
Did they do any kind of "special handling" i.e. no chemical dip or was it the normal process? Now I'm going to really be thinking about sending a warfer out to them.

Scooter, just got back home, still unpacking the van and camper, but taking a break and checking the T'talk and email. as far as I know no special treatment was involved . I'll have it at the Compton too if you want to check it over.

Viper its simple tarjac.com. They have 4 or more pages of color patterns, everything from multiple wood patterns to maybe 20-odd camos stars and stripes, they've probably got one with Barbie and Ken on it if you look hard enough.
They (and a few other companies like them) basically do the commercial camo application for bow gun etc manufacturers, so it has to stand up fairly well or they wouldn;t be in business very long. I heard somewhere that they did the camos for the old Oneida bows--aand I have one that has held up well for nearly 30 years now----'course it hasn't had much use for the past ten or so.
All I can say is I really like the look of mine and am trying to make up my mind which one I can spare long enough to do another. When I called the contact person---Dawn--she said they quote a 30 day turn around but it usually take a fair amount less--depending on work load. Mine took a little over 2 weeks

Tell me about it. The finish on mine appears to be every bit the equal of the finish they put on the gamemaster and compounds and those hold up very well. They also don't seem to chip like many paints and powder coats do.
