Can someone send me some pics of there Warfe'd bow, or DAS limb pockets and limbs. I looking to see how they're attached and the pin systems.

I want to convert my Martin Cougar to a recurve.

Can't wait.....seems like a good idea, since I don't shoot compound anymore and I can't sell the cougar, might as well put it to good use.

Thanks guys!

does anyone come here anymore?
hello...hello...hello.....

No worries. I'll figure it out, can't be too difficult.
Thanks.

The old Martin Cougar compound riser is not the best of risers to convert for recurve limbs. It is very long, about 23" if I remember right and the limb pockets are not the best angle wise. When the Cougar was a popular compound recurve limbs were available for it that just bolted on but due to the limb pocket angle they had a very large shim made into the limbs to kick them forward a lot to get some tension on the string, once again due to the pocket angle. To put ILF limbs or Quinn limbs on that riser you would have to made a shim in the pocket maybe 1/2" thick at one end tapering to nothing on the other end and with that much shimming you will have a limb bolt at a weird angle and not the desired 90 degrees to the limb. I would pass on the riser unless you just want to mess around with it and try the shim thing...warf

Thanks Bob, what riser would you recommend?

Do warfed bows still use the existing ILF, or is the spring button replaced with a pin..?

The risers I convert for ILF limb most all use the ILF system on the limbs so you get weight/tiller adjustment and easy takedown. The most popular riser I do is the Bear Black Bear followed by the Hoyt Rambo type..they are both close to 21" long overall. There are a few other risers that will work but those and the Proline riser are what I'm set up to do...warf

Bob, is the Hoyt Proline an old compound or T/D recurve?
Out of the 3, Proline, Black Bear, and Rambo which is your favorite?

The Proline is not Hoyt bow, it was made by Proline. With my long draw length I prefere the Hoyt Rambo type riser or the Bear Black Bear, sorta a tossup on the two risers. Both at my draw length, near 32" with long ILF limbs are very smooth and fast recurves on these risers. The Proline I feel is better for shorter draw lengths up to 28"....warf

That helps....thanks Bob. I'm looking for one now (Proline)..as soon as I get one I'd like to send it to you for Warfing.
Is there any particular model Proline?
I've see a Proline Raven and Cyclone.
I found a Bear Black Bear in the local pawn shop...I don't know though.
I draw 26" at the plunger and 27.5" to the front of the riser.

I'm shooting FITA so it would be great to put my limbs to use on a Trad bow.

Thanks again Bob.

With your draw length the Proline is perfect. Look on ebay, they pop up there all the time. What you want is the model Proline Typhoon, makes a sweet, fast recurve. Sure, get one and I will hack it up to fit your ILF limbs...lol...warf

What is the best limb-to-riser angle, and how do you measure it?

Thanks
