:amen: Last Sunday, two young fellas, one 18 and the other 15, went fishing in a 16" Sunfish sailboat. There was just a few problems. To begin with the Sunfish had no mast and no sail for sailing. Secondly there was a small craft warning in effect due to high winds and high seas, 4 to 6 ft. And thirdly the Sunfish is a one person vessel!!
One of the young men told his father they were going fishing at Folley Beach, a beach in the Charleston, SC area. Instead, they went to Sullivan's Island, another beach in the area on up the coastline a bit.
About 10:30 Sunday night, the young fellas had not returned home. So the father of the younger fella drove to Folley Beach to check for the vehicle, trailer and boat. Alas, no vehicle, no trailer and no boat. He thought perchance their paths had crossed and he didn't see them so he went back home. His son was not home.
The boys were reported missing, pictures of the boys and a picture of the vehicle and description of the boat and trailer were put on the local news. Some folks who had seen the news report saw the vehicle and trailer at Sullivan's Island Monday morning. The Coast Guard initiated a search as did the DNR officials. After 48 hours of searching, the Coast Guard called off their search, except for flyovers.
The DNR continued their search but by Thursday or Friday, they too called off their search until they received some sort of reports from the public that could help in the search. Saturday afternoon around 4:30 pm, they thought they had floated across the ocean and were off the coast of Africa, a North Carolina fishing boat was flagged down by the bows and they went over and rescured them 111 miles north of where they put their boat in the water.
They survived by eating jelly balls, gargling with saltwater, the one day it rained they gathered all the "freshwater" they could to drink, and they prayed. By the grace of Almighty God they are back home. The oldest young fella, Josh, works parttime in The Archery Shop where I go to shoot and buy some stuff.
Praise the Lord for this miracle. :jesus: :amen: :amen:
