The real question should be will a raised rest improve the accuracy of a traditional bow. Seems to me that the pro's would be that going to a raised rest will improve the ability to tube the bow or make it more simple as the rest makes the choice of a wider span of arrows can be used in the bow, and also could use vanes as well as feathers. I would also think a raised rest is more forgiving when you release. :shooting: Lets hear from you other archers, the cost of $4 makes trying a raised rest a cheap why to see if it works for you. I myself have continued to shoot off the riser with 5.5 inch bananna feathers for 3D and hunting. I do have a another recurve that I will setup with a hoyt rest and try it.....

The only problem I have seen useing a rest on a longbow is that most are not cut far enough to center. With the rest you wind up making them even less centershot.Put a small piece of leather or something under your rug to give you less arrow contact and it will help with you feather clearance as well.Something with a little give to it both on the shelf and sideplate will be best. This adds some forgiveness for the less that perfect releases we have at times. :) :2cents:

Boho -
There are a few guys here and on LW that do use plastic rests on LBs, either commercial or homemade. Can't see any reason why not. Most of my LBs are Hill style, and the shelf is small enough to work rather well. The only time doing something is wrong, is if it puts you off target, so pick one and give it a try. However, you might want to check with you local clubs first, than could easily throw you out of the LB or Trad classes at shoots, if you're into that sort of thing.
Viper out.
Try the Black Widow para-rest. It's a brush rest that you can trim the bottom plate and get that thing down low, almost resting on the shelf and still get all the benefits of an elevated rest. AND it still looks kinda cool on your bow. Go to their website and check them out.
