felt sort of odd to do this. i got to watch a bunch of deer behavior i had never seen before by passing the shot. bozo the deer came directly under my stand & fed & sniffed around for a good 15 minutes. was neat watching him after he got a whiff where i walked in. stood there motionless except for his head & neck, craning his head around looking up in all the trees. when he finally took off, it was silent flight, & no flag flying. watch & learn, or grow old & be stupid... ps2:)

Pretty neat how those bucks make no bones about getting out of there, they have no need to blow or flag... they're only looking out for number one!

Pondscum, I had a 8 point bust me last night by spotting me in my stand while pawing the ground and just happening to look up. Took off like a shot and never flagged. A mature whitetail doesn't get that old unless he learns quickly around here. I think it was the same deer that was a 4 point a couple of years ago and did the exact same thing a stand near that one.

Did you happen by chance to see a good luck charm on the deer as it took off?

Sub, that deer has something going for him. If it is the same buck that I think it is this is the second year he has busted me in 3 different stands. My got a shot at a big 8 point at 26 yards last year and missed. These bucks may die of old age before we get them.
