Had a right-handed Groves Spitfire Mag 1 60# @ 28" 62" long that I got at a craft store for $25. It has a small crack in one limb or I would have sold it. Since I'm left handed it wasn't any good to me the way it was so I took the saw to it and cut off the limbs. I made them fit my converted Darton riser so it's now 58". I had to reduce the width from 1 3/4" to 1 5/8" to fit the riser and I sanded the glass a bit to get the weight down but the poundage is unknown until I get to the archery shop. Doesn't draw too bad though. Here are some pics of the limbs after spraying on a couple of coats of finish. Wasn't sure if it would hold up but I've run several hundred arrows through it with no indication of the limbs failing. I'll get some pics of the complete bow tomorrow after the limbs are good and dry.

That's some nice work, BB, and $25 ain't bad for a set of Groves'. I've never had much luck fitting one-piece limbs to a take-down. I just haven't been able to get them flat enough on the down-side, but I notice the Groves' have one side pretty flat.

Here are some pictures of the completed bow. Shoots nice will have to get it weighed and try to run it through a chronograph to see if it was worth the time.

The riser needs some touch up work other than that it's hunt ready.

That should be 60" long on the Groves not 62".

Benbow,
fine bow.
I have a question:
You have cut the glass on the belly.....this not compronise the strenght of the limb?
Thanks
Martib

beleg2 I did cut through the glass on the belly but it doesn't seem to have weakened the limbs at all. I did add a piece of glass on the base help strengthen the base but don't know if that helps at all.
