He just had a stroke. I'm on my way to the hospital now to see how he is. This is the most crucial time. Please pray for him.

Thank you all for your kindness and prayers,

Grandpa is doing well. He's weak on his right side now and his left eye droops, but he seems to have retained his motor skills. We don't know how well he will walk though. His balance may be off, but they will do physical therapy for him. His memory is spotty and sometimes he is slow to respond. Hopefully that will pass. He remembered all his familys names and what he was doing right before the stroke. He couldn't remember my wifes name though, and he did know exactly how long he had been there. So there are some things that are a little grey.

In spite of it all, though, his spirits are high. He was even making jokes and flirting with his nurses. :) We don't know what the long term effects will be yet. My biggest fear is now that he's had one he's more likely to have another one. Which would probably be worse. He's 84 yrs old, but I'd really like to keep him around a while longer.

Thanks again for your prayers. It really means a lot to me. I have very strong faith in the power of prayer. When I heard what had happened I wanted to get as many people praying for him as I could. God bless you all. Matt

Matt,

I'm praying for you and your grandfather. I hope you won't be offended when I ask the question "Do you know if he's saved?" If he's not, that is the most precious thing we could pray for over his health and his longevity. If he is, then we can praise the Lord for His salvation, for the minimal damage done by the stroke and ask the Holy Spirits hand to be upon him.

Matt, the P.T. can get him up and going good. Make sure you get him to a good place for his P.T. my father got down a few years back and the hopsital he was at was doing P.T. with little or no results sent him to one of the high end P.T. places here in town he went in in a wheel chair and three weeks later he walked out.

Praise the Lord he made it through. Remember time is short for all of us we need to act like it more often.

Sorry I missed this thread. I will pray also. DId you give us his name? I like to pray specifically by name when possible.

Thanks for all the prayers. Grandpa is doing very well. He has good days where you think everything is great, then he'll have a bad day where you worry. The biggest problem is getting him to admit that he needs help. He's been so independant, and now he has to rely more on doctors. He hates that, and it's hard to get him to go. It's a real family effort to convince him to get his checkups. But he's doing well, thanks for the concern.
