I had started a thread on the old site about the adhesive film that Simms uses to attach their stick-on Limbsavers. It seems to be really durable and handles not only vibrations but some pretty extreme temps as well, besides being darn hard to peel off.
I got a small sheet of "dots" from one of their customer service reps. a Bob Stotler---gee I wonder. . . . . .
Any way he was kind enough to send me some. they are laser cut from a sheet of 3M adhesive with the excess peeled away leaving the dots on the paper backing. I looked on their backs and lo-and-behold they are marked as being "3M 300LSE Hi-strength adhesive"
Now if PB could just figure out a way to sell us sheets or strips of it it would really handle any number of assembly and mending tasks. My local sign shop where I get my wrap material buys a lot of 3M product. Next time I'm home during their open hours I'll see if they can get it for me.

DWS, I'm glad you are carrying the search for the "Sticky Grail" forward. It really would be nice to have a source for that stuff without begging. I'll do a little sleuthing too. My guess is that you can buy a 50ft roll of it for $150, or something similarly ridiculous. It would be a great Tradmall product!

www.mscdirect.com part # 65364663, 18yd roll, 3/4" wide, 5 mill 3M 300 high performanace transfer adhesive.
The 300LSE designation is for the adhesive used in the tape. The taoe is actually pure adhesive and that is why it is so thin. LSE stands for Low Surface Energy, meaning that it is suitable for plastics, powdercoated surfaces etc.
I'm pretty sure this is the stuff! I found the info searching the 3M website.

I use the outdoor carpet tape. They have not come off in the last 2 years. I also use it on my arrow rest. :2cents:

I started this search because I want to make a new cordovan leather riser strike plate with a limbsaver rubber bump in it for my bow-bolted 21stC LB. As usual when you start digging into these things they get complicated fast. This LB is a great bow but it does not have a cut-to-center shelf. The riser is also quite narrow front to back so there is not a lot of area to "get a grip" on either. I will have to back sand the cordovan to thin it as much as possible in any case and any of the double stick tapes that I have examined that had enough "gripping power" just added too much additional thickness. I was also a little concerned about how they would cohabitate with the oddball rubber compound--if it even is rubber, that is used in the limb savers.

There are some neat products out there available to us with a little creative thinking. I looked at the auto body trim tape--really great stuff if thickness isn't a problem, experimented wiht several different carpet tapes, indoor and outdoor 3m shrink-wrap-window sealing tape (the outdoor grade is close but too narrow). I even looked at contact cement--but was concerend about compatibility. But I think that the stuff from Limbsaver is the best solution. It basically is layer of adhesive, with no film to add any thickness, with a peel-off on both sides. I have the site listed above bookmarked now and will check it out as well as local suppliers. It'd be nice if it is available in a 1" wide roll
