Gentlemen,
It is close enuff to the 15th so find a reliable set of scales for you weigh in and try and use the same scales at the final weigh in also.
The set of scales I will be using will be a set at the fitness center I have been going to, so I am sure it will be there in 6 months.
With Turkey season coming up I usually loose a few pounds chasing them thru the hills of Southern Ohio. The trick will be keeping the pounds off once lost.
Good luck to all of you and I am hoping each of you will be of better health for the rest of your life.

I,ll check in the morning,I suspect after last weekend I,m about where I thought I,d be.
Don,t know about you guys but my wieght has always varied a good 5 lbs between morning and bed time. The most variation I,ve seen was 1 Christmas ,we got a bathroom scale and I checked after food and drink with jeans and a sweater on and the following morning with sweats top and bottom I had dropped 12 lbs on the same scale.A guy here says BS and I say ok LOL
Anyway I,ll post a start in the morning GOOD LUCK EVERYBODY

I have seen variance between am and pm weights. The trick is to start in the evening and end the contest with a morning weight!
JK. I will weigh in this evening and weigh myself in evenings. I'm just planning to make jogging a regular deal, combined with healthier eating and swearing off sodas.
I'm going to try to eat fruits in the morning - salads and such for lunch, and reasonable portions of whatever for supper. Maybe count calories a bit, to get a handle on intake, and then just exercise as regular as I can.

Checked my weight at the local fitness center at the above weight so I will just round it off to 229 :) That 29 #'s has got to go.
With the endurance type training I have been working on has had some benefit so far. The 56# bow I have been using is easier to pull and I can hold a little longer while lining up the shot.
Tried to shoot a 65# bow the other day and could only pull it 27 inches instead of 28  Not that I want to shoot a bow that heavy but it would be nice if I could pull one to the proper draw... :sbrug:
1bjd,
Cool! We can stalk each other! :highfive:

228 tonight and stalking a lifestyle change. I would love to hit 200 - 205 along the way.
Matt
I really need to get going. Been sitting around since December nursing a toe surgery. How can something so small hurt so much?
Well its off to the turkey woods. Two weeks from today and what a way to exercise!
Now if I can stay away from my wifes cookies! :)
Lets get er on!

237# on the digital scale this morning. Good thing we're getting started, I was 232 two weeks ago.
It's probably muscle, don't ya know :) .
215# is my new goal, I better slow down on the muscle.
I admit I ate alot of "bad" stuff here lately, since I started running and working out. I thought it would even out, but looks like it's a package deal. Eat right, exercise.
Good luck everyone! How often should we check in? I'm looking forward to feeling good this spring and summer.
As an added benefit, last year before my accident, I was in great shape and my shooting really improved, inner and outer strength working together.
5 months till I leave to go elk hunting, lets do it!
Glynn
I think weekly weigh in is cool dont figure on fast track so shouldnt change much. John

It looks like my wife is wanting to help, she has found a new diet book dealing with blood sugar called "The Glycemic Index Diet"
Within the book it tells which foods to avoid altogether, which foods can be eaten occasionally, and which foods are the ones to eat on a regular basis.
This diet is 3 fold, not only will you loose weight, by eating the right foods it can help prevent cancer and heart disease.
Best of luck to you gentlemen

well guys I'm in.
235 yesterday AM
My goal is below 200 and if I really get to where I would love to be it is 185. I'm 6' and the doc says he wants to see me there. Sure seems like a long way off.
I don't know about those charts but they say 150 to 185 for my height and age (44). When I was riding a bike a bunch I made it down to 180 20 years ago and there was just a touch of a gut then so I guess 150 is possible and still feel fine.
thanks guys
Lane
I'm down to 241 fellas. I've been working a lot so I haven't been able to work out like I should. I've just been making sure I get a good breakfast and eat sensible all day. The only exercise I've done is shooting. According to fitday.com it actually burns a lot of calories. If anyone is interested in a good site that will let you track your calorie intake and keep a log of your nutrients and physical activity it's www.fitday.com. I went ahead and bought the version that downloads to your computer. It's a lot better than the free web version. But they both are exellent. Good luck and keep going strong!
Well enough for the water weight! Scale said 240 this morning. Those are the eazy pounds. Finally got out after the turkeys. I got a long way to go, long winter sitting on my A-- my legs feel like rubber. John
Good going man! I better turn it up a notch. :highfive:

Gentlemen,
A little over a month has gone by, just wondering how everyone was doing?
I am not sure about the pounds that I have lost but my pants are looser and had to put a couple of more holes in the belt to keep them up :)
For the past couple of weeks we have been in the shutdown mode and things get pretty hectic and working long hours may have contributed to some of my weight loss.. Now that everything is back to normal I have to get back to the gym.

232 so I'm down a few pounds. Pretty consistent on that weight so I'm headed for more. Obviously I haven't been working on it. As long as I keep triming 3 a month I'll be happy. It is the upticks I'm dreading.

Well gentlemen,
2 months have now gone by, I hope everyone is on track and doing well. I have lost 15 pounds so far and hope to continue the trend. It is slow going but then the weight didn't appear overnight either.
Just checking in / enjoy your summer

Ok at 6'3" I weigh 242 . . . all the charts say I should be 6'9". So I'm under-tall not over-weight. But I have joined a gym to get down to a goal weight of 200# that the charts say I should be -- I'll BE BACK!

Ed,
Don't concern yourself with those charts...they are based on averages...they don't take into account guys that are more athletic or more muscular.
Maybe I should ask what your body fat is first before I assume that you're athletic or more muscular ;)
Do you know what it is...if not I would suggest getting pinched.
I'm 6'2" and weigh 226 and I'm at about 12% body fat.
Based on those charts I'm to heavy, but based on body fat, I'm in pretty good shape.

well had a minor set back,
been away for 1 week with no gym so i ended up running to much and droped 4 lbs!!!:(.. however agressive week in the gym and lots of chicken should put where i was..
Mr. Wolf stated a very key point, .....The BMI should be thrown in the garbage, it is outdated and teh charts dont work, this is coming from a healthcare provider!!.... I am 5' 11" and weight in @ 223lb with 8.3% body fat and according to the chart i am morbidly obese.... so get the caliper out and find out for real....
Oh yeah TJ..........nice nipples!:) hahahah looking big my friend.

TJ,
Having seen a few pics of you, I pity the fool who only shanked you halfway. Sounds like he lacked COMMITMENT! You got a scar and a story - which means you get to keep the grandkids enthralled for another rainy day, he gets the HOLE - which means no grandkids!
Sounds like you clearly got the better end of that deal. By the way, I'm glad he lacked commitment!

Well I havn't been on here in awhile with other family duties but the weight started at 235 and I'm down to 227 consistently with only minor diet. Pretty sad but 8 lbs is 8 lbs and I'll take it. With hunting season starting up I get in a bunch of walking and little eats that are fatening so that will help. Just need to stick with that after mid-sept.
I really hand it to all you guys and also want to thank those of you posting up support and encouragement.
GREAT site.
Thanks,
Lane

Lane,
Your right 8 pounds is 8 pounds so you know it can happen just keep up the good work. Just say no to that second helping and desert.. :)
But as we all know it is Tuff... :highfive:
Well got weighed at the hospital yesterday 235. Same thing on my home scales this morning. I really havent been working on it as much as I should but its still 12# and headed in the right direction! Im going to get with the program again now. Fear is a good motivator!
Was at the hospital for a heart cath which was a followup to a stress test which showed some change in my heart since a silent heart attack 6 years ago. The good news is there is no change or new blockage in the heart in the last six years. I still have only 50% function having lost the sheath of the heart when a blood clot shut off arteries in 1999. So I guess I really am halfhearted! Dr gave me a good to go on the bowhunting which is way better than the open heart deal I was worried about.
So there will be some deer in trouble if they step out in front of my DAS next month! John

Hey Guys can I play?
I'm 5'7" tall weighed 175lbs Jan 04 (too much choc and potato crisps while at work) after my jaw operation I dropped to 156lbs by May 04, last month noticed that I had gone back to 169lbs so stopped the BAD junk food and started snacking on fruit and also included it for breakfast and Lunch most days with a healthy meal at night, weight has dropped to 162lbs in 3 weeks.
Fruit works great and don't feel hungry all the time, it's cheap to buy and I'm starting to feel great, I'll have to watch it though as i've another opereration in Jan 06.
