I have so many but one old hymn that I love is
My Saviour's Love
I stand amazed in the presence of Jesus the Nazarene,
And wonder how he could love me , a sinner, condemned, unclean.
For me it was in the garden, He Prayed, Not My will but Thine
He had no tears for His own griefs but sweat-drops of blood for min
In pity angels beheld Him and came from the world of light
To comfort Him in the sorrows He bore for my soul that night.
He took my sins & my sorrows. He made them His very own.
He bore the burden to Calvary and suffered & died alone.
When with the ransomed in Glory, His face I at last shall see
Twill be my joy thro the ages to sing of His love for me.
How Marvelous! How Wonderful! And my song shall ever be.
How Marvelous! How Wonderful! Is MY SAVIOUR'S LOVE FOR ME!
How about someone else?

Sweet Beulah Land, He Came to Me, I Stand Amazed, The Broken Rose, Hello Mama, I Sing Because and The Master of the Sea were all written by and sung/recorded by my favorite singer, Squire Parsons. Squire has a rich baritone voice and writes some of the most beautiful and scriptural lyrics.

Roby...Amazing Love is also one of my favorites. Have you heard the contempory version by the Newsboys (probably my favorite contemporary group) It is really good. It is from their worship CD. Another that they do is "BE STILL" I love it because it is taken from one of my favorite verses of Scripture, Ps. 46:10. A favorite verse because I have a tendency to get toooooo busy & it serves as a constant reminder to be still & think on God!
I Can Only Imagine is also one!!

Yea I love the Newsboys version. I tell you that my favorite group right now is Casting Crowns I have the CD and the whole thing is just awesome.
There is a song that goes like this:
Its not because of who I am but because of what you've done. Its not because of what I've done but because of who your are. I am a flower quickly fading here today and gone tommorow a wave tossed in the ocean. But still you here me when I'm calling Lord you catch me when I'm falling.
I really like that song.

When I get to heaven, I'm gonna have a good voice. Until then, I just pretend like I do, and sing anyway.

Roby....I choke up every time I hear that song. We are because HE is.
I also do American Sign Language, so not only do I sing with my voice....some songs, I just can't keep my hands still.....so if you're ever in the DAyton area & see some crazy lady singing along with K-Love with her hands a waving......it will be me. Probably best to stay outta my way. I get into praising the Lord in my car! :)

I am always amazed at where worship thru song can do for my soul. I love the word and love great preaching but there is something about raising my voice in worship to the Lord.
I remember right after seeing "The Passion" going to church the next Sunday morning and singing Amazing Love I really didn't think I would make it through the song. To this day that image of my savior on the cross just burns in my soul.

I'm kind of homesick for a country,
To which I've never been before,
No sad goodbyes will there be spoken,
For time won't matter anymore,
Beulah Land I'm longing for you,
And someday, on thee I'll stand,
There my home shall be eternal,
Beulah Land, Sweet Beulah Land
I'm looking now just across the river,
To where my faith some glorious day shall end in sight,
There's just a few, at the most a few more days to labor,
And then I'll take my heavenly flight,
Beulah Land I'm longing for you,
And someday, on thee I'll stand,
There my home shall be eternal,
Beulah Land, Sweet Beulah Land
Beulah Land, Beulah Land, Sweet Beulah Land

Song of Solomon 2:1 I am the rose of Sharon, and the lily of the valleys.
Words cannot describe its beauty as upon its stem it grows,
Matchless in its glory, the tender little rose,
When its petals are broken its greatest beauty it shows,
Far more sweeter the fragrance of the Broken Rose
The most beautiful rose was broken one day,
Nailed to a tree on a hill far awat,
Forsaken by His friends, bruised by His foes,
How sweet is the fragrance of Heavens Sweet Rose
then they lay that Broken Rose in a borrowed tomb,
But on the third day Heavens Rose again did bloom,
And now from the heights of Heaven down to the deepest Hell,
The fragrance of Heavens rose doth continually dwell,
The most beautiful rose was broken one day,
Nailed to a tree on a hill far awat,
Forsaken by His friends, bruised by His foes,
How sweet is the fragrance of Heavens Sweet Rose
Forsaken by His friends, bruised by His foes,
How sweet is the fragrance of Heavens Sweet Rose

I've been singing about my Lord for so many years,
I've sung when I've been happy, I've sung when I've been blue,
Some folks have even questioned if its all been just a show,
But the reason I'm still singing, I'd like the world to know,
I sing because there's an empty grave,
I sing because there's a power to save,
I sing because His grace is real to me,
I sing because I'm not alone,
I sing because someday I'll be going home,
Where I shall sing through all eternity
I've sung to those who've been going through the fiery trials,
I've watched saddened faces turn into happy smiles,
I've even had to bow my head and say Oh Lord, please do the same for me,
And I'm glad I can tell you, He has always given victory!
I sing because there's an empty grave,
I sing because there's a power to save,
I sing because His grace is real to me,
I sing because I'm not alone,
I sing because someday I'll be going home,
Where I shall sing through all eternity
I sing because I'm not alone,
I sing because someday I'll be going home,
Where I shall sing through all eternity

I can only imagine
What it will be like when I walk by Your side
I can only imagine
What my eyes will see when Your face is before me
I can only imagine
Surrounded by Your glory, what will my heart feel
Will I dance for You Jesus or in awe of You be still
Will I stand in Your presence or to my knees will I fall
Will I sing hallelujah, will I be able to speak at all
I can only imagine
I can only imagine
When that day comes and I find myself standing in the Son
I can only imagine
When all I will do is forever, forever worship You
I can only imagine
I kinda prefer the psalms. Christian music today turns me off, because i feel most of it is for profit. I do like some of the 18th, and 19th century hymns though. A sister at our church does a mean "Victory in Jesus". :)

The purpose of Christian in my mind is to create a presence of worship within your soul. I love some of the old songs because of the power of the words but the modern is in my language and seems to humble me when I really concentrate on singing them to my Lord.
I can only imagine is so awesome I have a video with clips from the Jesus movie set to that song and it is powerful.

Joy,
I think you could say I love Southern Gospel and be accurate. I love the old songs in the old hymnals, too. In fact, that is what we sing when I go to the nursing homes on Sunday afternoons to sing with them and preach for them. I usually will sing one of my favorite Southern Gospel songs for them, too, though.

I like the old hymns for the doctrine...but I also like the praise songs because I can sing the to HIM from my heart. Both cause a stirring deep in my soul.
All I once held dear, built my life upon,
All this world reveres and wars to own;
All I once thought gain I have counted loss,
Spent and worthless now compared to this.
Knowing You, Jesus, knowing You
There is no greater thing.
You’re my all, You’re the best,
You’re my joy, my righteousness,
And I love you Lord.
Now my heart’s desire is to know You more,
To be found in You and known as Yours
To possess by faith what I could not earn
All surpassing gift of righteousness
Oh to know the power of Your risen life,
And to know You in Your sufferings;
To become like You in Your death, my Lord,
So with You to live and never die.

A mighty fortress is our GOD! Crucified with Christ, by phillips, craig and dean. Above all by michael w. smith. I am involved in a ministry at our church at the local resthome and their favorite is anything they can shout praises to their Lord and SAVIOR!

How about "What if I stumble" by DC Talk? It seems like an honest hearts cry, and easy to relate to...
"The greatest single cause of atheism in the world today
Is Christians who acknowledge Jesus with their lips
Then walk out the door and deny him by their lifestyle.
That is what an unbelieving world simply finds unbelievable."
Is this one for the people? Is this one for the Lord?
Or do I simply serenade for things I must afford?
You can jumble them together, my conflict still remains
Holiness is calling, in the midst of courting fame
Cause I see the trust in their eyes
Though the sky is falling
They need Your love in their lives
Compromise is calling
What if I stumble, what if I fall?
What if I lose my step and I make fools of us all?
Will the love continue when my walk becomes a crawl?
What if I stumble, and what if I fall?
Father please forgive me for I can not compose
The fear that lives within me
Or the rate at which it grows
If struggle has a purpose on the narrow road you've carved
Why do I dread my trespasses will leave a deadly scar
Do they see the fear in my eyes? Are they so revealing?
This time I cannot disguise all the doubt I'm feeling
What if I stumble, what if I fall?
What if I lose my step and I make fools of us all?
Will the love continue when my walk becomes a crawl?
What if I stumble, and what if I fall?
