A nice weekend may be coming:

still we have those awful northern winds but we have a new snow this night. Tracking and stalking starts again after three weeks of deep frost (- 7 - -25 F) and no moving in the forests.

Also we are approaching spring and the days are counted: fox, racoondog and minks etc. are still allowed.

Need a new hat...

Torsten,

Man let us know how it is going. We are in 75 degrees and rain and wind, with spring right around the corner. It will be 7 or 8 months before we get anything cool again.

What will you be hunting? What is your choice of equipment?

Cato,

That is just my problem, there is a lot of folks running around near our house and I needed 'updated' tracks to get a picture. Tracking camera will come soon.
What I expect to see: rabbits, fox, cats, most likely a dog and probably a lynx (must be careful with the last, otherwise I will get nasty phone calls).
Probably racoon dogs as well. Further away I found roe deer and moose.

My gear: Border Bows 1) (Skotland) Recurve Rob Roy Black, 65# 62" at 29.5 - 30 " draw. No sights, pins, bells and whistles. Carbon Express Terminator, 60/75, normal feathers, a few grizzly stick arrows and wensel woodsman heads. Lot of Muzzy 3 and 4 blade.
Picture should be below.

2) Border: Recurve 50# 62" long 30"draw. At the moment out of use because of the long bow style straight grip. I have the juniper wood ready for modification.

Torsten, let us know how it is going. We are sitting around waiting for some kind of season to open. Some will be hunting Turkeys soon. And then there is bow fishing. And a few get to hunt the spring bears. But mostly, we shoot at foam targets, and look forward to the fall.

The lazy method failed again. New tracks are covered by new snow. A lot of more fox tracks are obvious.
This night will be hunting night.
I took an old white overall and painted it with a spray can and paint brush: black tripes in longituninal direction and a few crosswise. When sir beside a big birch you don't see anything.
Problem: this is not exactly 'human' scent. Acrylic scent. I need to look carefully at the wind direction. Stinks like hell.

Maybe this will be used next winter...
