I've found out recently that the NWTF is lobbying the local gov'. to introduce eastern wild turkey to the maritimes. Mainly, Nova Scotia and NEw Brunswick! After doing some research I've learned that Maine has a health population of birds, as well as Quebec which is just north of us here.
Also the provincial bird watcher association has reported sightings of funny bl/bald headed feathery things in the southwest corner of the province.
I've actually been digging for info about bringing some birds into the province on my land for hunting purposes...That's where all this started from.
Recently, Nova Scotia said no..since turkey is not considered indigenous to the Maritimes. but the battle rages on in New Brunswick. There is one chapter of the NWTF in the province......I'm thinkin' of joining.
Just a bit of info from the home front.

I am familiar with the introduction of turkeys into Ontario. I first started seeing them in the area north of Kingston about '90 there are lots of huntable flocks there now. If you have never hunted them you owe it to yourself to try it. WARNING! Its as addictive as Archery! :shooting: John
