I haven't shot in a couple of weeks (work, son's hockey schedule). I went out this morning to shoot an arrow with a washer behind the field tip for the first time. I never tried the washer thing for stumpin' and wanted to see what kind of penetration it would get in the ground. I shot two arrows off my deck, picking out leaves for a target. One at about 5 yards, the other at about 10. Drilled the first leaf and thought...hmmmm. When I drilled the second leaf, I got a tingling feeling all down to my toes! To me, this is the allure of shooting traditional gear! :shooting:

It's funny you say that Viper. Last June I got a pinched nerve in my neck that ended up zapping the strength out of my bow arm's tricep and making my left index finger go numb. I couldn't even do a push-up, let alone shoot my bow. I thought for sure my shooting days were all gone. I couldn't even draw my son's 30# recurve more than 12"! After weeks of therapy, I got back enough strength to draw my bow. I was shaking all over the place, but could draw it. I shot a league this winter, and found that shooting my recurve was fantastic therapy for my problem. My finger is still somewhat numb, but I can shoot the weight I'm used to without any problems.
I guess this is why the little things mean so much to me when shooting my bow. It's like having a near death experience (no more shooting) and living to tell about it. You tend to look at things a little differently. Leaf hunting season has now officially begun!

LMAO!!--seriously though Gutshot, good going and enjoy. How did the washer work, and how did you mount them? Did you just screw them on behind the field point?

The washer worked pretty good. I have soft soil around my yard, but it still only went in about 3-4". I think I'll go out and shoot a comparision arrow without the washer and see what happens. I can't believe I didn't do this the first time.

Just shot an arrow with the washer and one without, side by side. No washer penetrated the soil a full 10" more! I was only shooting close range, so I don't know how much, or if the washer will effect flight. I guess it's a success.
Spring is almost here! Goofing around like that is half the fun of archery!

DAS Kinetic,
What do you mean "goofing around"? I was conducting scientific research! :)
