Jack from Zwicky made us some special heads for an upcoming water buff hunt in Austrailia. They are Deltas narrowed to the width of an Eskimo. We call them the "Little Delta". They are very strong at the tip and sharpen easy. I think they should penetrate well.

Zwicky's dont get much of the limelight these days, but the 30+ yr old ones I have still have SOME of, have always did an excellant job.
Denny, I have made some of those myself but I haven't had a chance to use them on game yet. I just took some delta's and ground them down to 1 1/8" wide and they look and fly great. I think mine weigh about 130gr. Good luck on your buff hunt I hope it goes better than last year. Chris.

I suspect the same could be done with the large Magnus I. Just a simple question, however...why not just get STOS heads? I'm just curious.

Rod, Yes there is a lot of history with Zwicky/Black Diamonds.
Chris, Thanks, I hope so too. Everything sure looks good. I just want to get out and hunt so I shouldn't be disappointed.
Bill, It might be my imagination, but I think the steel seems superior in the Zwicky heads. I've never seen a Zwicky point curl. I can't remember the particulars, but I remember hearing that some broadheads are batch heat treated and others aren't. Maybe someone with more knowledege than me can elaborate.Ryan Rothhaar used a STOS broadhead on a buff last year with good results so they definitly work.
The head in the photo had a needle point and I took it down a bit to add more beef.

Denny, I think they should work great. :2cents: Jack told me he once made some with a double thickness main blade(used 2 of the normal blades).I think they finished out around 200gr.Anyway,Zwickey's are great heads,I love the Eskimo's.Good luck on the buff hunt,I'm going one of these days.Take care,Mike

Denny, which GrizStik do you have that on and what are you looking at as an all-up arrow weight?

Wayne, Those are the Safari shafts. BH is mounted on a 125 grain steel adapter. Total arrow weight is 850 grains. They bare-shaft great. On a calm day I can shoot them at 50 yards with field points.

The Zwickeys I have shot and worked with had a harder steel than the Magnus heads. Not a lot just enough for me to notice. The Magnus heads have a harder steel than the original Bear Razorheads I've used.
I shot Eskimos for years but lately for me and the deer I hunt the magnus heads work great.
I am headed on a pig hunt this weekend and that head you have here would be a great one.
The Magnus and Zwickey both have an impressive track history on the big animals so I don't think you can go wrong with either one, but this idea of taking the delta down to 1 1/8 is very interesting. As long as the temper of the steel doesn't change I think it will be a winner.
Good luck,
Lane
