My son wants to sell his Hoyt RinTec and get a tradiional one-piece wood longbow. No problem, I've done the same thing and I am sure we can find him a nice used bow.
However, I've hung out around here long enougn to get my canabilistic juices flowing and all of a sudden I find myself looking at this really nice 17inch CNC aluminum riser. The open angle is 140 degrees or 20 degrees for each limb base. What do you think, can she be done?

Limb angle looks pretty steep, most aluminum recurves run from around 11 degrees to 16 degrees to get the right geometry. Maybe the riser could be machined a little to flatten it out some as the pockets are adjustable it might be a doable thing, hard to say from pictures...warf

Bob…thanks for the data. I am assuming 11-16 degrees relates to recurve limbs. I don't have a recurve but I measured my R/D T/D longbow and the riser measured 7.5 degrees.
I also cranked down the limbs on the RinTec (attached image) and got 15.5 degrees. With a little milling on the corner of the riser I think the existing limb pockets would straighten out to 14-14.5 degrees and if we made new limb pockets then 11 or 12 degrees should be possible without looking ridiculous.
I’m happy to take this conversation offline. I would also be fine discussing the potential of the project and working through the design process out in the open. Either way it is up to you.
Look forward to your feedback….Rasyad.
