Picked up an Impala on ebay last week. Once I got it apart and the strange hardware out of the limb pockets. I noticed a little slot underneath that is shaped like a female fitting for an Oly dovetail. Looked more closely at this 19" riser and began to see shades of the TD-2. Were these originally produced as TD-2s and Hoyt added the other hardware in the pocket to make the compound? Certainly would avoid a separate riser production run. Sure do like the grip on this. I plan to add the weight by forming a 7 oz. lead washer in a tomato paste can and mounting it on the stabilizer accepter (limb pockets, or course, have no hollows).

Your right, it's a TD-2 that was updated by hoyt. They opened up the top of the limb pocket and added a limb bolt and went to a little different limb alignment system from the thru the riser thumbolt and that's what the 3/8" wide slot is for. Then they added a little sheet metal "rocker" in the pocket for compound limbs to pivit on. It's a great little riser with a excellent grip. They made it in 20" and 24" lengths, the 24" model started out life as a first class Olympic recurve and the orignial 20" model was a Jr. Olympic bow and with the right limbs a hunting bow. Old Earl sure knew what he was doing when he designed a limb or riser...warf

Thanks, Bob, that explains a lot of what I see and feel when I handle the riser. It's been difficult to give up all that pretty wood in my bows; so much so that I've added a nice rosewood grip to each of my Warfs. This riser, however, will retain its comfortable plastic handle with that perfect medium-wrist grip. It sure ain't broke and I sure ain't gonna fix it. If I hadn't paid so much attention to your posts about what risers work for Warfs, I'd have missed this one. From the pix on ebay and the depth of the pockets, it looked as though the deflex would be too deep for a decent pre-load. Once I got the limbs off, and those funky rockers, it's a sweet angle. Can't figure yet whether I want to make a heavier hunter or a 38-42 lb target bow. It'll probably depend on what kind of a buy I can get on some second-hand Olys. Thanks for turning me onto this one. :)

I have a hoyt spirit hunter recurve that uses that same riser. The limbs just snap into place.
