Anyone shootiing woodies from their Warf, FITA type bows. I really like RRA that I make for my 60@30 Moosejaw and was wondering what kind of berger buttom adjustment to get them to fly from my 50@30 Jackal. Adjust jard or soft spring rate?

Metal riser recurves shooting wood arrows!!! It's not neo-traditional, it's just plain wrong. :cussing:

"It's not neo-traditional, it's just plain wrong. "
LMAO. I tend to agree as I'm not a big fan of woodies.
Non centershot bows tend to like lighter spined arrows so those arrows might shoot fine out of the centershot warf bow especially if you have a plunger which you adjust the spring some. Remember (assuming your a righty) if your bare shafts hit left your stiff and need to lighten the spring tension. Opposite for weak. You'll hit right and need to stiffen it.
Give it a try.

Maybe someone else knows for sure, but I think its very hard to say because of the difference in center shot and some other factors.
BTW, I think adjusting your plunger should be the last step in tuning your bow IMO. Better to adjust your limb bolts (ie poundage) first and then your plunger if needed.

Good point and absolutely correct. You could also play with point weight but I think your intention is to shoot the same arrow with both bows.
Check out the tuning for tens article.

I shot a tournament a couple years ago with a Sky Conquest and Cedar arrows, only because they said I was traditional shooting the Conquest
Good advice above....adjust poundage then do final tweaking with the button....if you just have the shoot that set of woodies

Wood arrows are, of course, considered to be true "traditional" arrows, but the truth is that they're just the result of poor manufacturing standards and abysmal quality control. They only contain 40 to 50 percent carbon and have no reinforcing cross weave. If the carbon content was increased and they were hollowed out, reinforced and given a nice, lustrous black finish they would be a lot better. :)
Wood arrows are required for the Eagle Eye contest at ETAR, so I set up a dozen RRA for that shoot and used a flipper/plunger combination. At 20 yards, I was putting 4 out of 5 in the 3 inch bull and practiced for about 3 hours before the final shoot off. Unfortunately, by then, I was so tuned in to that 20 yard mark and so fatigued that when it was my turn, I just couldn't hold low enough for that 12 yard point blank spot and missed 2 inches high dead nuts center. Note to self: When one shot is worth 1,000 bucks, shoot less than 800 arrows that day.

Bob, the woodies might shoot nicely out of the your Jackal. But it's difficult to provide an opinion, as you didn't elaborate on the spine, length, or up-front weight you have with the RRA's. Whether it be wood, aluminum, or carbon... spine of the shaft is the main factor as to how they will tune.
I'd shoot them just as they are with no changes, and the flight of arrow will tell you what to do from that point on. I suspect you don't want to cut them shorter, so the only other things you can do is heavier/lighter point, brace height may be a factor, and don't forget to experiment with nock set height as well. I would start with plunger set a tad bit out from center-shot and experiment with the aforementioned settings until best combination of brace and nock set is found.... then time to go in or out with the plunger to get it "just right". Of course, if the woodies show real stiff right off the bat, onlly thing to get close would be a heavier point.

Pinet Amen to turkey time didn't seen any this morning and then the rain started. The RRA are tapered 75-80 spine full length as I pull about 30 to 301/2
125 field tip, 5 inch paras, three fletch. Yes I don't want to cut as they fit my 60@30 Moosejaw longbow perfectly.

The RRA's sound awfully stiff for the 50# Jackal... plunger set to center-shot, weakest spring setting... still sounds like a big maybe in the good-flight dept. Interested to hear how they fly.

Papa Bear, now what could have been the problem.
Lets see now! 40 yards round trip (to target and back) times 800 arrows, is 32,000 yards or 18.18 miles you walked, if you shot one arrow before getting your arrows. No wonder youwere tired.

shoot woodies out of my warf all the time they work just fine. my warf however is set up to shoot off the shelf. but i can still adjust for arrow dia. by adding spacers to the back of the wood plate.
