I have many things…specific scriptures as well as “clever or catchy” phrases that have spoken to me at one time or another

I thought it might be interesting to find out what, if anything, others might have.

I will share one for now…

• Is the Lord well pleased?
• Is the work well done?
• Is the Word well pleased?

For me it is just an everyday reminder that my words, my work, my play is a reflection of Jesus Christ. Did I do the job (or whatever) to the very best of my ability. Did I use my time wisely? Did I adhere to scriptural principles? This applies to every aspect of my life…whether at church, work…or just driving to the grocery store.

How ‘bout you

CC,

I used to have a sticker that said:

"Be careful how you live. You may be the only bible some people will ever read."

Sermon notes/outlines. I have them on every blank, or nearly blank, page as well as in the margins of my Bible.

i have a bible that came over on a ship with my german grandfather and was passed down to me when my mother died.
it has lots of family stuff in archaic german and births and deaths in english starting in 1886. my mother wrote quite a lot of observations about living in a society that made her marriage to an indian somehow vile as compared to a woman who married a white man, no matter his weaknesses with cruelty, liquor, and infidelity.
i value those so much i would not ever add to them.

My dad also has a bible that was his grandfather's..not sure how old it is but it has to be late 1800's. His grandpa was a preacher & he has several of his sermons that are handwritten of course. He had beautiful hand writting. Not sure which of us 7 kids will end up with that Bible but it sure is a treasure 7 full of family history.

I also have the dates my children were baptized written in mine.

I like to scrible down the titles to my favorite hymns.

Another that I have is a take off on the army slogan...

"Be all that you can be to the honor & glory of God"

Hymns & choruses....now that is a thought for another thread..which are your favorites & why.

Nearer my God to thee. It brings a tear to my eye every single time I hear it.
