Some of you will know Richard Allen, archery in the school coach, teacher, police chaplain and friend of mine here in Kentucky. He has been scarce around here lately but he and I talk and I know that his wife is undergoing a heart surgery in the morning and could use our prayers.

I don't understand the procedure very well, but I understand they go in from the neck and are doing something with a nerve or nerves in an attempt to regulate a racing heartbeat. The surgery could last from 2 to 6 hours, depending on, well...on whatever it depends on. (I just don't know enough to even try and sound intelligent about it.)

If some of you would lift her up to the Father in the morning it would be appreciated by Richard and by myself (as well as by his wife, I'm sure, at least when she wakes up :) ).

Richard tells me the surgery took much longer than expected, due to some complications, and that there is a small chance it will need to be repeated. Tonight will tell. So prayers are still in order.

Richard will call me this afternoon. I think that no news is good news, in terms of how she is faring at the moment. I will post as soon as I hear from Richard. Thanks, Cato.

Got this yesterday from Richard (but did not see it until today):

"Thanks to all of you who prayed for Valerie this week when she had her heart surgery. She has been resting at home since Wednesday and is starting to feel better. She felt well enough to get out and go to Noah's basketball game today! She will be going to church tomorrow, Lord willing."
