Just figured I would start a new threard for 2012.
My first league night was last night. I shot a 275 16x. Considering how little I have shot this year and that it was my first time on a five spot target (with one miss) I was fairly pleased with that. There are some more points to be had.

my last 3 practice rounds are 285/279/282 and league starts this week. The 285 is my PB so pretty happy with the changes I have made to my anchor and arrows to get me close to point on this year. Last year I was holding on an imaginary spot below the paper, not conducive to good scoring, even though I was avg'ing low 260's. Made the change before our MC (Vegas face) started and have been pretty happy with it. We shall see how it holds up this week. Great shooting Bowbender Mike... anything close to 280 or above is pretty solid.

Bad night at league.. shot good groups most just below the 5 in the 4.... 258 14X. Way too much practice today I guess, got tired and didn't focus well. All those 4's add up to a below avg score.. had 1 end that all 5 arrows were less than a 1/4 inch below the 5 and all arrows were touching each other.. oh well... humbling. Especially shooting next to Grant who shot well for the 1st 8 ends, and kind of got some of my mojo in the last couple.. he still shot a 273.

Shot a 273 19X in league last night, still need to stop practicing on the morning of our evening league... I just think that with 7-8 hours of rest I can do it... but it shows up in the middle of my round that evening with focus and shoulder strength (bow arm) issues. Focused well the last 2 ends to pull out the 273...

Good shooting Scott... last weeks score was a 270 12X... had a great start 95 first game, 140 at the half... then lost some focus after breaking a nock in the 7th end. However not too far below my league avg, just could have been a lot better. Oh ya, I turned 57 this past Friday. Our State and NW sectionals are this weekend, hope I can keep it together for that.

We're home from the TX ST Indoor Championship. I shot 255/8x on the first day. Didn't shoot as well the 2nd but won and set a new state record T MSFBB. (I shot my Comet XL recurve not a barebow compound.)
This coming weekend I'm shooting my Martin Savannah Longbow in USA Archery Indoor Nationals. Modern Longbow Style for women of all ages. Should be fun.
Can I post results here or do I need to find a different thread.
As to asking for your ages--I apologize. It sounded like I was looking for excuses for why my scores are lower than ya'll's. Well, maybe I was. That said--I'll just keep on reading your successes feeding off you and also work to get higher scores.
Oh! Speaking of excuses--did I mention I'm a great grandmother? lol

They are practice Scott. We have a Monday night league but that is it here. I will only shoot our league up to Nationals. I think we all may shoot a bit higher this year. In talking to guys and looking at the Senior scores it seems that a lot of people have lifted their game a bit. It's always tougher in Louisville, but who knows?
I look forward to meeting you rsarns.

Are you shooting the NAA indoor this year? I am not. Too little time.
Yes there are some people putting up good scores. Jim Powell has not shot many tournaments here in MI this year so far but when he has he has been right there. Should be fun. My money is on you Jimmy!
I am hoping to win the GL sectionals this year. I do not have that one yet for trad just one in barebow. Should know by maybe end of next week.

Ughhhhh Got sick but still went and shot our NFAA State Blueface and NW sectionals. Hard to shoot when you have no equalibrioum... shot a 267 and 265, way below my average but thats the way it goes sometimes... Spending today eating chicken soup and laying on the couch. Grant had a bad day yesterday (his first day), hope he picked it up today. My scores were good enough to beat the Senior Trad State 1 and 2 day records but not by the level I had hoped to.

Shot state with Ren this weekend.
Day #1 was just horrid: 268 14x, way below my league average.
Day #2 was weird. I just couldn't find the X-ring for the first game: 92 0X, how do you do that? Managed to get into something like a groove after that. Finished-up at 282 14X. So I tied the State record for score plus beat the X-count by 2. Anxiously waiting for everyone else's results now.

The PFATA (http://www.pfata.net/Forms/PFATA%20Indoor%20Registration.pdf) state indoor. It was held in four locations, one of them being Stowe Archers where I'm a member. 248 5X and 243 10X. I guess I mentioned it on the shoot scores thread, not here.
I thought I'd do better than that and maybe come in second. They say showing up is half the battle; this time it was the whole thing.
gitnbetr
03-11-2012, 11:41 AM
You can't do any better than beating everyone who shows up! That's great! Congratulations.
I've been to so many shoots where I was the only trad or barebow recurve, I can't remember them all. I sometimes change to recurve if I get there and am the only trad just to have someone to shoot against.
Scooter
03-11-2012, 04:35 PM
What Mike said. You can't control who shows up or how they shoot. Shoot your game and if at the end you are happy with how you shot that is all that counts. Let the chips fall where they will.
Found out today my state score was good enough for first and a new state record.
Oh and shot a 282 20x this afternoon on a way to nice to be shooting indoors day.

Ren - that is a beautiful piece of paper - I just can't get the mental game together to shoot at that level - I can string together 3 or 4 good targets and then I start thinking about it and shoot a 17 or something like that - would you believe that Missoula a town of about 100,000 doesn't have an indoor league.
The shoot is Thurs. - Sun. 10 - 13th of May
Guys - I am just 2 hours away and am going to drive over and get a room - if any of you are flying in from out of town let me know and I can save you the cost of renting a car - if you don't mind some snoring we can split a room as well.

Matt, have you talked with them at ACM about starting a TRAD league? I remember a few years back they had one on Friday nights, but it wasn't the 5 spot. It was 2d foam animals. They might be open to starting one if you could get some guys to help you push it.

Great shooting Jimmy. A new personal best if I am not mistaken.
Interesting week and a half for me. Hit a snag in my shooting with some inconsistency creeping up. Had a horrible league night a week ago shooting my worst for the year (265 11x). Basically a comedy of focus and a form glitch errors. Worked on some things and shot a best ever 290 25x Saturday only to follow up with a somewhat disappointing 275 12x. The following day.
Well after that I just worked on my very basic shot foundation and after some practice outside Monday (143 half round) to confirm my thoughts and a talk with Rod I think I have isolated the issue. Yesterday morning I shot a 280 26x practice round and shot a really easy 284 25x league last night with a really nice looking target Crazy how you can lose just some small shot principles if you are not paying enough attention.
BTW I ended up wining my league which is kind of cool being one of only two recurve shooters in the group.

Real happy with the score but lost concentration for those 3 ends, last end was a 24 4X which helped. Shot another round and felt good except for one really bad end, 280 23X.

Struggled with the rights all day... great groups just outside the 5 ring to the right, or just catching the edge.... 277 17X. Went back tonight to see if I could figure it out, after about 15 min's I realized I was torqueing (sp?) the bow. Hate to use a finger sling, but thru one on and sorted it out. Shot a half round, 141 12X, much better. We shall see what happens tomorrow, my last day of practice before heading to Louisville.
